The Impact of Hand Nerve Disorders scale is a patient-reported outcome measure for upper limb nerve pathology. We aimed to assess its structural validity using item response theory and to develop computerized adaptive testing algorithms. We conducted a series of psychometric studies to assess constructs measured, applied an item response theory model to the data, then developed computerized adaptive testing algorithms.

Background: Surgeons are likely to encounter patients on GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and should be aware of any associated risks or complications. Here we review the existing literature on GLP-1RA use as it pertains to non-bariatric surgeons.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines.

To date, little is known about the mechanisms of rejection in vascularized composite allotransplantation, particularly for antibody mediated rejection. Additionally, no clear guidelines exist for the diagnosis and management of antibody-mediated rejection in vascularized composite allotransplantation. A systematic review of electronic databases (Embase and PubMed) was conducted to evaluate the relationship of donor specific antibodies and C4d deposition in correlation with cellular rejection following hand and face transplantation reported by centers between 1998 and July 2023.

Background: Recipients of Vascularized Composite Allotransplants require effective immunosuppressive therapy to prevent graft rejection. This systematic review summarizes the current body of literature on immunosuppressive regimens used in face and hand transplants while summarizing their outcome in terms of rejection, renal failure, and infections.

Methods: A systematic search of electronic databases was conducted to identify relevant studies from 1998 until July 1st, 2023.

Burn injuries pose a significant source of patient morbidity/mortality and reconstructive challenges for burn surgeons, especially in vulnerable populations such as geriatric patients. Our study aims to provide new insights into burn epidemiology by analyzing the largest national, multicenter sample of geriatric patients to date. Using the National Electronic Injury and Surveillance System (NEISS) database (2004-2022), individuals with a "burn" diagnosis were extracted and divided into 2 comparison age groups of 18-64 and 65+.
