Introduction: Heart failure (HF) and cancer are currently the leading causes of death worldwide, with an increasing incidence with age. Little is known about the treatment received and the prognosis of patients with acute HF and a prior cancer diagnosis.
Objective: to determine the clinical characteristics, palliative treatment received, and prognostic impact of patients with acute HF and a history of solid tumor.
Emphysematous cystitis and emphysematous pyelonephritis are rare entities, difficult to diagnose and with high morbidity and mortality. The non-specificity of the medical history and the little usefulness of laboratory tests contribute to diagnostic delay, which increases the possibility of therapeutic failure. We present 2 cases, one of cystitis and another of emphysematous pyelonephritis, who attended the emergency room due to severe urinary sepsis.
