Flash nanoprecipitation is a simple and scalable method to produce nanoparticles by rapid mixing of a polymer solution with an antisolvent. High-speed mixing devices for the continuous synthesis of polymeric nanoparticles and drug-encapsulated nanoparticles have been designed. In this work, we demonstrate a different approach to induce flash nanoprecipitation using the differential evaporation of solvents in a sessile drop.

Background Compelling observational data suggest that heightened levels of fasting blood phosphate are linked to a higher likelihood of cardiovascular disease, spanning across both the general populace and individuals grappling with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study aimed to explore the possible correlation between carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and blood phosphate levels among those afflicted with chronic renal dysfunction. Objective The primary goal of this study is to determine the potential association between blood phosphate levels and CIMT in patients with CKD.

Background: Sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity are growing concerns associated with increasing diabetes incidence, but data from Indian diabetic cohorts are limited. This study examined the prevalence and clinical factors associated with sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 750 participants aged 35-70 years were recruited by systematic stratification and a fixed quota sampling technique from medical camps and categorized into diabetic (n = 250), nondiabetic (n = 250), and obese nondiabetic (n = 250) groups.

The emergence of sustainable polymers and technologies has led to the development of innovative materials with minimal carbon emissions which find extensive applications in wearable electronics, biomedical sensors, and Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring systems. Nanocellulose which can be generated from abundant biomass materials has been widely recognized as a sustainable alternative for a diverse range of applications due to its remarkable properties and eco-friendly nature. By making use of the unique and easily accessible coordination transformation property of Co(II) ions and associated visible light absorption changes, we report a novel Co(II) cation-incorporated nanocellulose/malonic acid hybrid aerogel material that exhibits reversible thermochromism induced by thermal stimulus in the presence of atmospheric moisture.

Introduction: Obesity is a growing public health concern affecting both children and adults. Since it involves both genetic and environmental components, the management of obesity requires both, an understanding of the underlying genetics and changes in lifestyle. The knowledge of obesity genetics will enable the possibility of precision medicine in anti-obesity medications.

Transcription factor (TF) binding is a key component of genomic regulation. There are numerous high-throughput experimental methods to characterize TF-DNA binding specificities. Their application, however, is both laborious and expensive, which makes profiling all TFs challenging.

The classification of vehicles presents notable challenges within the domain of image processing. Traditional models suffer from inefficiency, prolonged training times for datasets, intricate feature extraction, and variable assignment complexities for classification. Conventional methods applied to categorize vehicles from extensive datasets often lead to errors, misclassifications, and unproductive outcomes.

Cholangiocarcinoma of the common bile duct (CBD) presenting as empyema of the gallbladder is a rare entity that poses a risk of septicemia, septic shock, peritonitis, and abscess formation. This case report describes an elderly female presenting with pain in the right hypochondrium, a positive Murphy's sign, and a history of regurgitation and constipation. It highlights the value of imaging in the early diagnosis of this rare presentation of underlying malignancy.

Objective: To compare the ability of gadolinium ethoxybenzyl dimeglumine (Gd-EOB-DTPA) and gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA) to display the 3 major features recommended by the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS 2018v) for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 98 HCC lesions that were scanned with either Gd-EOB-DTPA-MR or Gd-BOPTA-M.For each lesion, we collected multiple variables, including size and enhancement pattern in the arterial phase (AP), portal venous phase (PVP), transitional phase (TP), delayed phase (DP), and hepatobiliary phase (HBP).

Hemifacial spasm (HFS) arises from involuntary, recurrent, irregular tonic-clonic-like contractions of the muscles innervated by the facial nerve. Typically, compression of the facial nerve root exit on the same side is attributed to either a vascular loop or a mass located in the cerebellopontine (CP) angle. Dolichoectasia, alternatively termed dilated arteriopathy, is characterized by arterial dilatation, elongation, and tortuosity.

Introduction Glaucoma is the major cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Glaucoma affects the optic nerve head in the posterior segment of the eye and the defects lead to permanent blindness if left untreated. Poor knowledge about this disease is strongly correlated with delayed diagnosis.

Background Of late, the interest in accelerated treatment protocols in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has been gaining momentum. Studies have already found that the patterned theta burst stimulation is non-inferior to the standard high-frequency stimulation in treating depression. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a customized accelerated combination TMS naturalistic setting.

Introduction: Treating deep vein thrombosis (DVT) using a once-daily dose of enoxaparin offers greater convenience and the possibility of home-based care for certain patients, as opposed to a continuous infusion of unfractionated heparin (UFH). The study aimed to determine the most cost-effective thromboprophylaxis between low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) and UFH for hospitalized patients.

Materials And Methods: After obtaining clearance from the institutional ethical committee, the study was conducted in the Department of General Surgery, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, over a period of six months.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is indeed one of the most common types of oral cancer, typically affecting individuals over the age of 50. It primarily originates from the squamous epithelial cells lining the oral cavity. While it is relatively rare in individuals under 40 years old, it can still occur, albeit less frequently in that age group.

Article Synopsis
  • A super hydrophobic porous silicon surface is created using a wet chemical process, showing a relationship between pore size and reaction time through electron microscopy.
  • Silver nanoparticles are applied to this porous silicon to create SERS substrates that demonstrate high sensitivity and stability, successfully detecting low concentrations of rhodamine 6G.
  • These substrates are effective for sensing various water pollutants at concentrations below safe limits, indicating their potential as low-cost, long-lasting sensors for environmental conservation.

Acute pancreatitis is a rare manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia which can be a presentation at the initial diagnosis or during or after the onset of the disease. Acute myeloid leukemia occurs due to the abnormal proliferation of undifferentiated hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow which alter the normal hematopoiesis. We report the case of a 32-year-old male admitted with a one-month history of fever and backache, followed by 15 days of blackish stool discoloration and two days of abdominal pain and reduced urine output.

Introduction Dental caries prevention in early childhood is crucial, necessitating timely assessments by dental professionals and parents. The oral health of children during their early years can significantly impact both the children themselves and their parents' quality of life. This study seeks to assess the changes in oral health-related quality of life after treatment under nitrous oxide sedation in anxious preschool children, for whom treatment otherwise is quite difficult chairside.

Background: Digital health has the potential to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting health systems and enhancing health promotion and disease prevention. However, obstacles such as restricted internet access, inadequate technical assistance, clinical resource disparity, and insufficient user training can impede the utilization and growth of digital health. Researchers should examine healthcare providers' and patients' perspectives to identify challenges and enhance usability.
