Imaging can help to diagnose CNS vasculitis. Yet so far, no imaging studies of CNS vasculitis at 7T are available. We share our experience of vessel wall imaging (VWI) at 7T in patients with suspected vasculitis.

Background: Immediate non-contrast post-interventional flat-panel detector CT (FPDCT) has been suggested as an imaging tool to assess complications after endovascular therapy (EVT). We systematically investigated a new imaging finding of focal hyperdensities correlating with remaining distal vessel occlusion after EVT.

Methods: A single-center retrospective analysis was conducted for all acute ischemic stroke patients admitted between July 2020 and December 2022 who underwent EVT and immediate post-interventional FPDCT.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of endovascular therapy (EVT) compared to intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in patients with a minor acute ischemic stroke and large vessel occlusion, specifically focusing on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores.
  • Data was collected from 533 patients treated between 2005 and 2021, showing that while 25.5% received bridging therapy, only facial palsy on admission associated more with excellent outcomes in those receiving IVT alone.
  • The analysis concluded that NIHSS subitems were not significant predictors of patients who would benefit from EVT over IVT alone, indicating a need for further research in this area.

Background: The clinical course of patients with incomplete reperfusion after thrombectomy, defined as an expanded Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (eTICI) score of 2a-2c, is heterogeneous. Patients showing delayed reperfusion (DR) have good clinical outcomes, almost comparable to patients with ad-hoc TICI3 reperfusion. We aimed to develop and internally validate a model that predicts DR occurrence in order to inform physicians about the likelihood of a benign natural disease progression.

Purpose: Differentiating normal anatomical variants such as an infundibulum or a vascular loop from true intracranial aneurysms is crucial for patient management. We hypothesize that high-resolution 7 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improves the detection and characterization of normal anatomical variants that may otherwise be misdiagnosed as small unruptured aneurysms.

Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center study.

Background: There is paucity of data regarding the effects of delayed reperfusion (DR) on clinical outcomes in patients with incomplete reperfusion following mechanical thrombectomy. We hypothesized that DR has a strong association with clinical outcome in patients with incomplete reperfusion after mechanical thrombectomy (expanded Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction, 2a-2c).

Methods: Single-institution's stroke registry retrospective analysis of patients admitted from February 2015 to December 2020.

Purpose: Treatment of distal vessel occlusions causing incomplete reperfusion after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is debated. We hypothesized that pretreatment with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) may facilitate delayed reperfusion (DR) of residual vessel occlusions causing incomplete reperfusion after MT.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of patients with incomplete reperfusion after MT, defined as extended thrombolysis in cerebral infarction (eTICI) 2a-2c, and available perfusion follow-up imaging at 24 ± 12 h after MT.

Background And Purpose: The correlation between imaging findings and clinical status in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension is unclear. We aimed to examine the evolution of idiopathic intracranial hypertension-related MR imaging findings in patients treated with venous sinus stent placement.

Materials And Methods: Thirteen patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (median age, 26.

Purpose: We hypothesized that due to its specific characteristics, the Casper RX carotid stent (CP) might be particularly suitable for venous sinus stenting (VSS) in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). To test this theory, we compared it to the commonly used Precise Pro RX stent (PP).

Methods: A total of 15 patients with IIH (median age 28.

Purpose Of Imaging: Imaging plays a major role in the diagnosiss, treatment indication, and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke.

Recent Study Results: Recent studies have proved the safety and effectiveness of thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy based on the individual combination of imaging and patients clinical information even beyond the classical time-windows. In these cases, magnetic resonance imaging and perfusion-imaging can provide additional and important information.
