- This meta-analysis utilized guidelines and various databases to determine the prevalence of CMV infection in BA patients, analyzing 19 studies with a total of 630 infants.
- The findings revealed a 25.4% prevalence of CMV infection among these infants, indicating significant regional differences, but more extensive research is needed to better understand the connection between CMV and BA, especially regarding prognosis.
Sickle cell disorders are the most common hemoglobinopathies worldwide. Clinical variability of sickle cell disease (SCD) and susceptibility to its complications have been attributed to hematologic, genetic, and other influencing factors.
