Metal halide perovskites have shown exceptional potential in converting solar energy to electric power in photovoltaics, yet their application is hampered by limited operational stability. This stimulated the development of hybrid layered (two-dimensional, 2D) halide perovskites based on hydrophobic organic spacers, templating perovskite slabs, as a more stable alternative. However, conventional organic spacer cations are electronically insulating, resulting in charge confinement within the inorganic slabs, thus limiting their functionality.

This paper investigates enhancing the efficiency of solar water pumping systems (SWPS) by implementing a Maximum Power Point Tracking technique based on the Bat Metaheuristic Optimizer (MPPT-bat) for the photovoltaic generator (PVG) side, coupled with Direct Torque Control (DTC) for the induction motor powering the pump. Unlike traditional techniques, which make no compromise between tracking speed, oscillation and robustness. The integration of the MPPT-bat represents a significant advance, making it possible to improve PVG performance whatever the weather conditions.

Background: This study aims to perform a review by selecting, analyzing, and evaluating articles that discuss the accuracy of intraoral scanners (IOSs) in recording post space compared to conventional impression-making techniques.

Methods: The review question framed using the PITR framework (participant, index test, targeted condition, and reference standard) is as follows: What is the dimensional accuracy (T) of impressions made using intraoral scanners (I) for post space (P) compared to impressions made using conventional techniques and digitalized using extraoral scanners (R)? Four electronic databases were searched using pre-set keywords. The guidelines and strategies recommended by PRISMA formed the basis for planning, executing, and documenting this systematic review.

Article Synopsis
  • Clavicle fractures are common in emergency departments, while acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries are rare and even more so when combined with clavicle fractures.
  • A 29-year-old male patient experienced both an AC joint dislocation and a midshaft clavicle fracture, leading to surgical treatment that resulted in excellent recovery and range of motion after one year.
  • The case highlights the rarity of this combination of injuries and stresses the importance of timely diagnosis and investigation to achieve favorable functional outcomes, although there's still no agreement on the best treatment approach.

Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (HOA: MIM 167100)) is classified into primary and secondary types. Primary HOA, also known as pachydermoperiostosis (PDP), is a rare genetic condition with distinct clinical features including digital clubbing, skin thickening, and periostosis. Secondary HOA often occurs as a paraneoplastic syndrome or is associated with systemic diseases.

Background: Colonic emergencies remain a major life-threatening condition associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Unlike elective colorectal surgical procedures, a large portion of emergency colorectal surgical procedures are performed by noncolorectal surgeons (NCRS). The impact of specialization on the outcome of emergency colorectal surgery has not yet been well described.

The field of sustainable heterogeneous catalysis is evolving rapidly, with a strong emphasis on developing catalysts that enhance efficiency. Among various heterogeneous photocatalysts, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained significant attention for their exceptional performance in photocatalytic reactions. In this context, contrary to the conventional homogeneous iridium or ruthenium-based photocatalysts, which face significant challenges in terms of availability, cost, scalability, and recyclability, a new Ba/Ti MOF (ACM-4) is developed as a heterogeneous catalyst that can mimic/outperform the conventional photocatalysts, offering a more sustainable solution for efficient chemical processes.

Stress, a state of mental or emotional strain or tension brought on by challenging or demanding events might hamper a dentist's ability to react quickly and prudently. Their ability to deal with difficult patients may also be compromised, especially when dealing with frightened or anxious people. The main goal of this study was to survey a wide range of dental professionals from different backgrounds, including undergraduates, general practitioners and specialists, and determine how much stress each group was experiencing and how it affected both the participants and the treated patients.

Background: Scientific literature is presented in complex language, most frequently in English, and includes technical jargon that represents a challenge to comprehension of an English as a foreign language (EFL) nursing student. Yet scientific literature is a powerful and trustworthy source of evidence to guide nursing practice.

Purpose: The aim is to examine two reading interventions (Translation vs Synthesization) and to determine which one produces long-term sustainability effects in scientific research reading comprehension.

  • The study aimed to assess the usefulness of DQ-genotyping in screening for celiac disease (CD) among type 1 diabetic (T1D) patients in a Saudi population, focusing on the frequency of DQ-genotypes, associated risks, and cost-effective screening strategies.
  • Involved 67 T1D patients with CD and 224 without, analyzing their HLA-DQ genotypes to compare risks of developing CD.
  • Results showed a significant correlation between homozygous DQ2.5/DR3-DQ2.5 genotypes and increased risk for CD, while only 4% of patients had no risk genotypes, confirming celiac serology tests

The presence of defects at the interface between the perovskite film and the carrier transport layer poses significant challenges to the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Addressing this issue, we introduce a dual host-guest (DHG) complexation strategy to modulate both the bulk and interfacial properties of FAPbI-rich PSCs. Through NMR spectroscopy, a synergistic effect of the dual treatment is observed.

This paper proposes a new contribution in the field of optimizing control techniques for wind systems to enhance the quality of the energy produced in the grid. Although the Sliding Mode control technique, whether classical or involving the use of artificial intelligence, has shown interesting results, its main drawback lies in the oscillation phenomenon commonly referred to as "chattering." This phenomenon affects the accuracy and robustness of the system, as well as the parametric variation of the system.
