Genesis of Mental Disorders: Could It Be Cavum Septum Pellucidum (CSP) et Vergae? A Case Report of CSP in Schizophrenia with Catatonia.

In our case report, a 29-year-old male patient with a known history of schizophrenia presented with altered mental status and catatonia and was found to have an enlarged (21mm) cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He was subsequently treated with escitalopram, olanzapine, methylphenidate, lorazepam, and eight electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatments during his hospital course, after which his catatonia improved. We compared this to other cases in which a large CSP was identified and discussed the possibility of increased susceptibility to psychosis, specifically catatonia, which might be associated with this developmental anomaly.

Folie À Trois: A Case of Shared Delusions Between a Patient, Her Sister, and Another Patient in the In-Patient Psychiatric Unit.

Folie à deux is a rare condition in which a single person (often with a psychiatric disorder) develops a delusion that is shared by another person. Folie à troix is when a delusion is shared by three people. This case report documents the unusual case of an individual who shared delusions with two different people simultaneously.

A Unique Case of Exploratory Laparotomy in the Setting of Large Bowel Obstruction Led to the Detection of Pancreatic Carcinoma.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is the second most common gastrointestinal cancer after colon cancer. There is a delay in the detection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma as it remains asymptomatic in many individuals until it has metastasized to different parts of the body. We present a case of pancreatic cancer causing a large bowel obstruction in a 78-year-old female, detected during an exploratory laparotomy.
