Article Synopsis
  • Indigenous peoples in Canada face serious challenges in getting cancer care, even though Canada has a healthcare system that's supposed to be fair for everyone.
  • A review study looked at 36 pieces of research to find out what barriers Indigenous peoples encounter when trying to access cancer services like screening and treatment.
  • The barriers are found at different levels - personal issues, problems with the healthcare system, and bigger societal issues like racism and discrimination that impact care and are not always recognized as connected.
