Article Synopsis
  • Studies indicate that combining several doses of dexamethasone with rituximab yields significantly better results compared to using either treatment alone.
  • A trial involving 67 patients showed that 64% had complete responses after treatment and that factors like less than 24 months of illness duration and being female linked to better long-term outcomes, despite some patients experiencing mild to moderate side effects.

Article Synopsis
  • - Thrombopoietin-receptor agonists increase platelet counts but are linked to the development of myelofibrosis in patients with immune thrombocytopenia, with significant changes observed in bone marrow biopsies over time.
  • - The study assessed 66 patients, revealing a decrease in the proportion of biopsies showing no fibrosis from 67% before treatment to only 22% after, with higher fibrosis grades increasingly observed in those treated for over 2 years.
  • - The findings suggest regular monitoring via bone marrow biopsies is necessary to identify and potentially discontinue treatment if severe myelofibrosis grades develop, which could help prevent further complications.
