Methods: Four bone defects (8.3 × 2 mm) were produced on the calvarium of 15 rabbits.
Introduction: The intermittent use of recombinant human parathyroid hormone (iPTH) alters calcium metabolism and induces osteogenesis in experimental models. However, the real effects of iPTH in excitable cells and neurons that require membrane receptors to undergo membrane depolarization/repolarization (Na+K+ATPase) to generate ATP, voltage-gated calcium channel (calcium-IP3R-calponin) as well as GABAergic (GABAA) signaling remains unclear.
Objectives: In this study, the expression of IP3R, Na+K+-ATPase, GABAA and calmodulin proteins were evaluated in histological sections of the cerebellum of rats following prolonged injection of iPTH.
The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of parathormone (PTH) administered directly to the implant's surface prior to insertion, using a large translational animal model. Sixty titanium implants were divided into four groups: (i) Collagen, control group, where implants were coated with Type-I Bovine-collagen, and three experimental groups, where implants received varying doses of PTH: (ii) 12.5, (iii) 25, and (iv) 50 μg, prior to placement.

Objectives: Nowadays, it is believed that more than 240 million people worldwide are infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV), associated with irreversible health-related consequences, represented by hepatic failure, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, and already are ranked as 15 cause of human death around the world.
Methods: A systematic review and a meta-analysis were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccination and immunization on health professionals against HBV. The review was registered at the PROSPERO database (CRD42017075643).
Previous reports demonstrated the utility of systemic application of growth hormone (GH) in the treatment of bone defects. Very few studies correlated bone repair efficacy with hepatic and renal side effects promoted by locally-delivered GH. The objectives of this study were to assess the bone repair properties along with hepatic and renal adverse effects promoted by local application of GH in a rat model.

Background: The epiphyseal growth plate is an important anatomical segment localized on the ends of a long bone. Despite the abovementioned atractive reasons for alendronate's use, few data on the effect of alendronate during epiphyseal growth exist.
Aim: Verify the effect of alendronate on the growth epiphyseal plate, and compare its effect with the size of the femur during the double-staining of the immunolocalization of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) in endochondral ossifing in specimens that have received alendronate.

Introduction: Plasmacytoma describes a neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells affecting different groups of patients according to location, and may demonstrate heterogeneous tumor progression and survival rate. The present article describes a case of solitary plasmacytoma in the mandible
Presentation Of Case: A 57-year-old male smoker was referred to the oral and maxillofacial service with extensive injury, approximately 4-5 cm in size, involving the anterior inferior region of mandible. After confirming diagnosis of plasmacytoma through incisional biopsy, because it was a recurrent lesion, excision of the lesion was performed through marginal resection of the mandible under general anesthesia.
Aim: To evaluate the effects of sodium alendronate on bone repair in fractures created in appendicular bones.
Methods: Wistar rats ( = 36) were allocated into three distinct groups: group C (control), group B1 (received 1 mg/kg of alendronate), and group B2 (received 3 mg/kg of alendronate). The rats underwent femoral transversal linear fracture surgery using stable internal fixation with a 2.

Objectives: TGF-β1 is a cytokine that may induce both osteoneogenesis through Runx-2 or fibrosis via the transcription of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA). Because it has been previously known that alendronate increases the level of TGF-β1 and that under the usual condition of bone metabolism the estrogen may prevent the fibrotic effect of TGF-β1, the aim of this study was to evaluate if alendronate alters the cellular differentiation process post calvarial surgery in estrogen-deficient specimens.
Materials And Methods: A transosseous defect that was 5 mm in diameter was created on the calvarium of each of 32 female rats with previous ovarian-salpingo-oophorectomy.
