Objective: The treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is challenging, calling for therapeutic strategies other than pharmacological treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of Pilates exercises on IBS symptoms and severity, frequency of complete spontaneous bowel movements, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and body weight in women with IBS.

Methods: Sixty women with IBS, aged 20-45, completed this study.

Background & Objective: Hypervascularity is a characteristic feature of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and microvessel density (MVD) predicts tumor metastasis. Nestin is a stem cell marker that is expressed in proliferating endothelial cells and newly formed vessels and Fms-related tyrosine kinase 1 (FLT1) is a proangiogenic factor. This study aimed to evaluate the expression of Nestin and FLT1 in RCC and their prognostic impact.

Background & Objective: Prostatic adenocarcinoma (PAC) is the second most prevalent cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer death in men worldwide. Additionally, pathologists may face problems diagnosing it reliably and may need more than one marker. Thus, the search for new immunohistochemical biomarkers becomes mandatory.

Despite being the initial choice for treating toxoplasmosis, sulfadiazine and pyrimethamine have limited effectiveness in eliminating the infection and were linked to a variety of adverse effects. Therefore, the search for new effective therapeutic strategies against toxoplasmosis is still required. The current work is the first research to assess the efficacy of spiramycin-loaded maltodextrin nanoparticles (SPM-loaded MNPs) as a novel alternative drug therapy against toxoplasmosis in a murine model.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant threat to global health, compromising the effectiveness of treatments and increasing medical risks. In this crisis, the importance of vaccines in reducing AMR is being increasingly acknowledged, although not thoroughly explored. This literature review asserts that vaccines can significantly lessen the occurrence of infections, thereby reducing the need for antibiotics and limiting the emergence of resistance.

Background Hospital pharmacy departments have a critical role in the healthcare system, as they aim to provide excellent patient services while also ensuring cost-effectiveness. Lean methodologies are well-known for improving efficiency and quality in various industries, but their impact on healthcare, particularly in hospital pharmacy settings, has not been thoroughly investigated. Aim This quality improvement (QI) study aimed to assess the impact of implementing the sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain (5S) methodology using the innovative orientation, coordination, training, awareness, governance, observation, normalization, and promotion (OCTAGON-P) framework on the operations of Mediclinic Parkview Hospital (MPAR) Pharmacy in Dubai, UAE.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of death worldwide. Despite the advances in surgical and therapeutic management, tumor metastases and poor prognosis are still major problems. Tumor budding is a relevant prognostic factor in CRC, and it can predict tumor metastasis.

Gastric carcinoma (GC) is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death. Studying the molecular profile of GC is essential for developing targeted therapies. β-catenin, Tenascin, and Fascin expression are among the molecular abnormalities that are claimed to cause GC progression and chemoresistance.

Background: () is a ubiquitous bacterium that affects nearly half of the world's population with a high morbidity and mortality rate. Polymorphisms within the tumor necrosis factor-alpha () promoter region are considered a possible genetic basis for this disease.

Aim: To functionally characterize the genetic variations in the 5'-region (-584 to +107) of Sudanese patients infected with using in silico tools.

Background: Heart failure outcomes remain poor, and little is known about the causes and predictors of these outcomes in Lebanon.

Aim: The purpose of this article is to report the causes and predictors of the 6- and 12-month readmission and mortality of previously recruited patients to the Family focused Approach to iMprove Heart Failure care In LebanonQualitY intervention (FAMILY) study.

Methods: A multi-site block randomized controlled trial in three tertiary medical centers in Beirut.

The specific binding of [3H]PK 11195 to the peripheral-type benzodiazepine binding site is inhibited by the l-enantiomer of N,N-diethyl-alpha-methyl-2-phenyl-4-quinolinepropanamide ((-)Q1) but not by its d-enantiomer ((+)Q1). (-)Q1 inhibited [3H]PK 11195 binding to several rat tissues with an IC50 of less than 10 nM whereas (+)Q1 was at least 500 times less potent. This stereoselectivity was observed in all the tissues tested (brain, heart, kidney and adrenals).

Two compounds with high affinity for the "peripheral type" benzodiazepine binding sites, PK 11195 (an isoquinoline derivative) and RO5-4864 (a benzodiazepine derivative) can modify the sensitivity of DBA/2J mice to audiogenic seizures. RO5-4864 (1-15 mg/kg) facilitates in a dose-dependent manner the audiogenic seizures and PK 11195 (2-5 mg/kg) antagonizes the RO5-4864 effects. At these doses PK 11195 alone does not modify the sensitivity to audiogenic seizures, but at doses between 20-80 mg/kg it protects DBA/2J mice against audiogenic seizures.
