This study investigates the corrosion inhibition potential of 3,4-dimethoxy phenyl thiosemicarbazone (DMPTS) for copper in 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) solutions, aiming to disclose the mechanism behind its protective action. Through an integrative methodology encompassing electrochemical analyses-such as weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)-we quantitatively evaluate the corrosion protection efficacy of DMPTS. It was determined that the optimal concentration of DMPTS markedly boosts the corrosion resistance of copper, achieving an impressive inhibition efficiency of up to 89% at 400 ppm.

The biological activity predictions are based on the global and local chemical descriptors, namely, HOMO-LUMO gaps, chemical hardness, chemical potential, electrophilicity, dipole moment, and Fukui functions. Our findings show that the studied compounds can be divided into two groups based on the chemical descriptors; the first group is composed of eugenol, gingerol, ascorbic acid, and oleuropein and the second one is composed of piperine, hesperidin, quercetin, Luteolin, and curcumin depending on the HOMO-LUMO gaps and electrophilicity values predicting best reactivity for the second group than the first one.

Our study objective was to assess nutritional status in the first year after birth with EA and to identify factors associated with growth failure.
Study Design: We conducted a population-based study of all infants born in France with EA between 2010 and 2016.
The encapsulation mode of dexamethasone (Dex) into the cavity of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), as well as its potential as an inhibitor of the COVID-19 main protease, were investigated using density functional theory with the recent dispersion corrections D4 and molecular docking calculations. Independent gradient model and natural bond orbital approaches allowed for the characterization of the host-guest interactions in the studied systems. Structural and energetic computation results revealed that hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interactions played significant roles in the stabilization of the formed Dex@β-CD complex.

Laparoscopy has been widely used to repair anorectal malformations (ARMs) by paediatric surgeons in an attempt to be less invasive, offer better cosmetic results, enable a faster return of bowel function, decrease length of hospital stay and pain, and lately to improve functional results. Robotic technology assists the paediatric surgeon by increasing dexterity and precision of movement with a robotic wrist-like mechanism that allows up to 90° of articulation and 7° of freedom. This is important in ARM surgery, where the dissection of the fistula and the pull-through of the rectum into the muscular complex are crucial to achieve continence in future.

Objective: Evaluate neonatal management and outcome of neonates with either a prenatal or a post-natal diagnosis of EA type III.
Study Design: Population-based study using data from the French National Register for EA from 2008 to 2010. We compared children with prenatal versus post-natal diagnosis in regards to prenatal, maternal and neonatal characteristics.
Purpose: A prospective national register was established in 2008 to record all new cases of live-birth newborns with esophageal atresia (EA). This epidemiological survey was recommended as part of a national rare diseases plan.
Methods: All 38 national centers treating EA participated by completing for each patient at first discharge a questionnaire validated by a national committee of experts.
Objectives: Pulmonary malformations in the child are a wide clinical and pathologycal spectrum. The congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation and the pulmonary sequestration both produce many symptoms, from the asymptomatic to the most complicated, and its management remains controversial. Moreover, in the last years many new publications show that this surgery can be perfectly accomplished with the thoracoscopic approach as an alternative to the tradicional open surgery.

The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of esophageal atresia type III treated by thoracoscopic or open procedure.
Material And Method: From january 2000 to december 2006, 31 children were operated, 17 by thoracotomy (weight range from 1750 to 4020 g) and 14 by thoracoscopy (weight range from 2110 to 4160 g).
Background: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for late-presenting congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) has been described previously, but few neonatal cases of CDH have been reported. This study aimed to report the multicenter experience of these rare cases and to compare the laparoscopic and thoracoscopic approaches.
Methods: Using MIS procedures, 30 patients (16 boys and 14 girls) from nine centers underwent surgery for CDH within the first month of life, 26 before day 5.

Introduction: The laparoscopic pull-through for high imperforate anus in boys has recently been developed in France and Benelux. The purpose of this study was to evaluate technical difficulties and surgical complications of this approach.

Introduction: Surgical management of intussusception is required for cases where enema reduction fails. Some articles report an advantage of the laparoscopic over the open approach, but complications such as serosal tearing and frank perforation have been described. We aim to determine the best indication of laparoscopy in the decisional management tree of intussusception.
