Background: Stroke is a significant contributor to both mortality and compromised physical function. Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is now the recognized standard of care for anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with large vessel occlusion (LVO), especially when favorable brain images are evident within 24 h of symptom onset. This study elucidated the characteristics, clinical profiles, and outcomes of patients who underwent EVT for AIS.

The prevalence of childhood obesity and its associated comorbidities is a growing global health problem that disproportionately affects populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and minority ethnicities in high-income countries (HICs). The increased childhood obesity disparities among populations reflect two concerns: one is HICs' ineffective intervention approaches in terms of lifestyle, nutrition and physical activity in minority populations, and the second is the virtually non-existent lifestyle obesity interventions in LMICs. This article provides guidelines on childhood obesity and its comorbidities in high-risk minority populations based on understanding the prevalence and effectiveness of preventative lifestyle interventions.

  • Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare type of cancer, mainly affecting adults, but can occur in infants, making diagnosis and treatment challenging due to its slow-growing nature.
  • An 8-month-old infant was initially misdiagnosed with a dermatofibroma; after multiple surgeries, DFSP was confirmed, highlighting the importance of accurate early diagnosis.
  • Early detection and careful surgical removal with clear margins are crucial for managing DFSP, especially in young patients, to prevent recurrence and improve outcomes.

  • - Severe subcutaneous emphysema (SSE) is a condition characterized by a large buildup of air in the subcutaneous tissue, which can result from trauma, infections, or occur spontaneously.
  • - A multicenter case series focused on four patients with SSE who underwent treatment using Incisional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (INPWT), leading to significant improvements within 6 to 48 hours.
  • - The findings suggest that INPWT is an effective treatment for SSE, and the authors recommend further research through randomized studies to refine patient selection and treatment protocols.
