This study assessed the shear bond strength (SBS) and failure modes of lithium disilicate ceramic veneering material to different high-performance polymers. Thirty-six square specimens measuring 7 × 7 × 2 ± 0.05 mm were prepared from pure polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Bio-high performance PEEK (BioHPP) and Trilor discs.

Comparing the efficacy of live vs. video instructional demonstrations in dental education: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to investigate the effects of live and video demonstrations of various dental procedures on undergraduate students' performance and satisfaction scores.

Materials And Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases, including MEDLINE (OVID), PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, supplemented by a manual search of bibliographic references from retrieved articles. The aim was to identify relevant randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental trials that compared live demonstrations to video demonstrations in dental education, specifically focusing on undergraduate students' performance and satisfaction scores assessed using practical assessment rubrics and satisfaction questionnaires.

Maximizing phonation: impact of inspiratory muscle strengthening on vocal durations and pitch range.

Background: This study investigated the acute effects of inspiratory muscle warm-up (IWU) on vocal performance in singers. Proper vocal and respiratory warm-up can enhance vocal range, quality, and endurance. The aim was to determine whether IWU improves maximum phonation time and pitch range, contributing to better voice production efficiency (vocal efficiency) and reduced fatigue.

Acne scars impact on the quality of life and the willingness to pay for treatments among adults in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Inter-professional learning (IPL) or more broadly Inter-professional Education (IPE) refer to a pedagogical approach that involves creating a learning experience where students from different professions learn about, from, and with each other. IPE is crucial for preparing health professionals to offer patient-centered care as part of an interdisciplinary team. This study aims to assess the readiness for IPL among students from different health professions colleges at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.

Crystal methamphetamine and its effects on mental and oral health: A narrative review.

The purpose of this comprehensive literature review is to present the available evidence on the effects of methamphetamine on mental and oral health, as well as provide an overview of the most widely used medical and dental care strategies in the management of meth mouth. For this purpose, PubMed and Google Scholar electronic databases were searched for relevant articles, yielding 115 search results, which were further scrutinized for their relevance, leaving 55 for a detailed review. The analysis of the gathered data indicates that a comprehensive patient-centered approach that takes into consideration the physical, mental, and social aspects is crucial for mitigating the detrimental effects of increasing methamphetamine use.

Azithromycin Treatment for Acne Vulgaris: A Case Report on the Risk of Clostridioides difficile Infection.

BACKGROUND Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is a gram-positive, anaerobic, spore-forming bacillus. It can lead to pseudomembranous colitis characterized by electrolyte disturbances, toxic megacolon, and septic shock.

Physical activity assessment among patients with multiple sclerosis in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To measure and assess the physical activity (PA) of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and its association with the quality of life (QoL).

Methods: This cross-sectional study included patients with MS in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from August, 2022 to November, 2022. Data were collected via social media platforms using a questionnaire that included 3 sections: sociodemographic data, International PA Questionnaire (IPAQ), and the Health Status Questionnaire Short Form-36 (SF-36).

Synthesis of Chiral Iodoaniline-Lactate Based Catalysts for the α-Functionalization of Ketones.

A family of chiral iodoaniline-lactate based catalysts with and symmetry were efficiently synthesized. Comparisons between the reactivity and selectivity between the new and previously reported catalysts are made. The new catalysts promoted the α-oxysulfonylation of ketones in shorter reaction times and with higher yields of up to 99%.

Objectives: Bibliometric analysis has emerged as a valuable method for identifying emerging areas in a given research field. Breast carcinoma has maintained a stable rank as the most common cancer affecting women worldwide. This study performed bibliometric profiling to shed light on breast cancer research conducted in KSA over the past two decades and to present the research output in the field of microRNAs (miRNA) in breast cancer in KSA.

Severe Neutropenia and Hepatotoxicity After Carbimazole Drug Therapy for Hyperthyroidism in a Pediatric Patient: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Hyperthyroidism is an overproduction of thyroid hormones. Carbimazole is an anti-thyroid medication used to treat hyperthyroidism in adults and children. It is a thionamide associated with rare adverse effects such as neutropenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, and hepatotoxicity.

Aim: This study aimed to systematically review the published studies on vertical alveolar bone augmentation (VABA) by guided bone regeneration (GBR) with titanium mesh (TM).

Background: Guided bone regeneration is a procedure that can be used for VABA of the alveolar ridge. Titanium mesh is used as a barrier due to its ability to maintain a space that the newly formed bone will occupy.

The use of cyanoacrylate glue for skin grafts stabilisation: A retrospective multicenter study.

Cyanoacrylate (CA) tissue glue is frequently used in various surgical procedures, and it is simple to use and may save time during procedures. We report the use, effectiveness, and postoperative outcomes of patients who have undergone skin graft surgeries in which CA glue was used to stabilise the graft. A retrospective study of patients who underwent skin graft surgeries where CA was used to stabilise the grafts between January 2018 and August 2021 at different medical institutes in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Association Between Dry Eye and Sleep Quality Among the Adult Population of Saudi Arabia.

Background and objective Dry eye disease (DED) is one of the most prevalent ocular diseases worldwide. DED symptoms can result from disturbances to the homeostasis of the middle tear film layer (aqueous layer), including inflammation, pain, and eye discomfort, which can have a negative impact on individuals' quality of life and daily activities. Sleep disorders are highly prevalent among patients with DED, and the incidence of sleep disturbances in DED patients has been reported to be as high as 40%.

A review on dental whitening.

Objectives: To provide a narrative review on vital dental whitening chemistry, toxicity and safety, vital dental whitening techniques, whitening systems, potential side effects of whitening and cyclic whitening using products with a range of concentrations and pH values. In addition, new developments and recommendations in the field of vital dental whitening will be presented to help clinicians understand the whitening process, its advantages, limitations, and the impact of whitening concentration and pH on enamel providing guidance in tailoring whitening treatments.

Age of identification of sensorineural hearing loss and Characteristics of affected children: Findings from two cross-sectional studies in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To identify the average age of identification (AOI) and characteristics of Saudi children with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL).

Methods: Two cross-sectional studies were undertaken. Study A: the medical records of 1166 children aged 0-10 years old who visited the audiology clinics in four hospitals in Riyadh and Dammam during 2015 were reviewed.
