[Personal results in the surgical treatment of pertrochanteric fractures].

Trochanteric fractures of the femur are frequent in elderly people. This region is well vascularised and shows a tendency to heal rapidly. Surgical procedure is the method of choice in the treatment of these fractures.

[The value of kinematic data on the lumbosacral spine in differentiating between 4 levels of classification of the lumbosacral syndrome].

Dynamic capacity of the spine was measured on the basis of electrokinesiological findings (EK) with the purpose of finding out how the clinical classification factors of the lumbosacral spine (LS) affect the kinematic indicators. The EK scan contains quantified kinematic and myoelectrical data on the LS spine recorded during motion of the body in the sagittal plane. A total number of 110 patients with low back pain and/or ischialgia of degenerative etiology were examined and compared with 42 healthy controls.

[Conservative treatment of the painful, stiff shoulder].

The painful respectively stiff shoulder form an important part of orthopaedic practice. The treatment of patients with such a disease is at first always conservative except acute rupture of the tendon. Recurrences and those who do not respond to therapy require surgery.

[Treatment of femoral neck fractures with endoprostheses in the aged].

A primary prosthetic replacement is advocated for all elderly patients with displaced fractures of the femoral neck. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of this method of treatment. Patients admitted to the Department of Orthopedics, University Hospital Firule, Split, from 1977 through 1989 were analyzed.
