Subglottic and posterior glottic stenosis (PGS) narrows distinct areas of the larynx, while bilateral vocal fold immobility (BVFI) is characterized by static cords. Treatments include open surgeries and newer endoscopic methods, offering comparable safety, quicker recovery, and fewer complications. This study assesses the decannulation rate of endoscopic posterior cricoid split with posterior cartilage grafting (EPCCG) in pediatric patients with posterior glottic stenosis, subglottic stenosis (SGS), and BVFI.

  • * A retrospective review of 102 patients' CT scans showed that height positively correlates with the lengths of the subglottis, while older age negatively impacts the length of the extrathoracic trachea.
  • * The study found that average lengths for the anterior subglottis (14.16 mm), posterior subglottis (14.51 mm), and extrathoracic trachea (66.37 mm) vary based on factors like age, height, and sex.

Laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS) is characterized by an abnormal decrease in the upper airway diameter. The pulmonary function test (PFT) is an effective adjunctive diagnostic tool for upper airway obstruction. LTS can be managed with either open surgery or less invasive endoscopic approaches, among which endoscopic balloon dilation is the main method; this may include concurrent intralesional steroid injection (ILSI), which has the potential of improving the outcomes.

Background: Vaccine hesitancy has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a major worldwide health threat. Home Health Care (HHC) service recipients represent a vulnerable group and were prioritized to receive coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination during the national vaccine campaigns in Saudi Arabia. We aimed to investigate the most frequent reasons for vaccine hesitancy among home health care recipients in Saudi Arabia.

Background and objective While the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has had a hepatitis C virus (HCV) elimination program in place since 2015, there have been limited studies investigating the effectiveness and safety of direct-acting antivirals (DAAS) based on the Ministry of Health (MOH) surveillance data. In light of this, this study was conducted to assess the effectiveness and safety of DAAS (glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, daclatasvir/sofosbuvir, or other combinations) in treating HCV cases in Saudi Arabia as per the MOH data from 2017 to 2021. Methods This was a retrospective cohort study involving recorded HCV cases in the national hepatitis surveillance database of MOH across all regions of KSA from 2017 to 2021.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of adenotonsillectomy on improving central sleep apnea events in children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Methods: We searched four online databases for relevant articles published from inception until October 2022. We included studies that measured the number of central apnea events per sleep and central apnea-hypopnea index (CAHI) or central apnea index (CAI) scores in children with OSA before and after adenotonsillectomy.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the changes in spirometry parameters or indices after relieving laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS) in adult patients.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies from PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and EBSCO databases was conducted for assessing changes in spirometry values after endoscopic balloon dilatation of LTS in adults. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed.

To compare the susceptibility and complication rates between flap and primary closures for tracheocutaneous fistula (TCF). We searched 4 online databases (Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Scopus) for relevant articles published from study inception until August 2022. Studies including at least 5 adult or child patients with persistent TCFs who underwent closure surgery via primary or flap repair were included.

Background/objectives: The incidence of sleep-related breathing disorders is underestimated because polysomnography is required to confirm its diagnosis. The pediatric sleep questionnaire-sleep-related breathing disorder (PSQ-SRBD) scale is a self-reported questionnaire completed by a patient's guardian. There is no validated Arabic version of the PSQ-SRBD that can be used in the Arabic-speaking population.

Objective: Perioperative risk stratification of pediatric patients undergoing airway intervention remains crucial in identifying those at a higher risk of requiring postoperative intensive care unit (ICU) care. Here we determined the likelihood of and possible risk factors for developing perioperative adverse respiratory events (PAREs) requiring ICU care after various pediatric endoscopic airway surgeries (EASs).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective chart review of pediatric patients who were aged <18 years and underwent EAS between 2015 and 2021.
