The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic affected not only the physical and emotional health of human beings but also cats. Restrictions put into effect during the pandemic resulted in changes in the daily routine of pet cats and the number of new pet owners. The current study aimed to evaluate the diseases induced by stress in cats, such as gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and urinary tract diseases.

The comparison of changes in fecal and mucosal microbiome in metabolic endotoxemia induced by a high-fat diet.

The aim of this study was to compare the mucosal and fecal microbiota in a high fat diet-induced metabolic endotoxemia (ME) model and to identify potential species that represent dysbiosis and might mediate the inflammatory process. Fourteen male wistar albino rats were fed a standard diet (n = 7) and a high-fat diet (HFD) (n = 7). The standard diet (2600 kcal/kg) contained 3% of energy from fat and HFD (6740 kcal/kg) contained 67% beef tallow.

Short term effects of experimental gastric outlet obstruction and truncal vagotomy on gut hormones.

Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) is caused mainly by pyloric or duodenal blockage; gastric surgery and vagotomy are effective treatments.
