Background: Partial extensor tendon lacerations of the hand and forearm are common. There is a lack of evidence to guide their management and it is also unclear at what threshold surgeons would consider repair necessary. This study aimed to identify national surgical management of partial extensor tendon lacerations of the hand and forearm (zones 2-8) and assess surgeons' willingness to randomise in a future trial.

Outcomes of Flap Reconstruction for Diabetic Foot Ulcers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Clinical Studies.

Background: People with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are at risk of major amputation, which is associated with a high mortality rate (exceeding 50% at 5 years) and reduced quality of life. The authors hypothesized that flap reconstruction of DFUs improves patient outcomes in comparison with standard treatment modalities, including major amputation.

Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and gray literature were searched on February 9, 2022.

Evaluation of Depilatory Agents in the Treatment of Hair-Thread Tourniquet Syndrome.

Unlabelled: Background Hair-thread tourniquet syndrome (HTTS) is the constriction of an appendage or tissue by a hair thread, which can cause ischemia and necrosis of distal tissues. Depilatory agents have the potential to release the hair tourniquet without exposing the patient to the risks of surgery.

Objectives: This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness, benefits, complications, and contraindications of depilatory agents in HTTS.

The Educational Value and Emotional Impact on Medical Students After Participating in Transplant Organ Retrieval.

Introduction: Medical students and healthcare professionals lack knowledge and confidence in organ transplantation which stems in part from a lack of exposure to transplant surgery at medical school. To address this, we developed a program that allowed students to attend organ retrievals and assessed its efficacy as an educational intervention.

In Australia, the UK and the US dog ownership is prevalent with an estimated 40% of Australian households, 25% of UK households, and 50% of US households owning a dog. Once acquired, a dog usually becomes a family companion so, unlike a faulty product, it can rarely be returned or resold without some emotional impact on both the acquirer and the dog. Regarding the reality of dog relinquishment, there is a growing need for cross-disciplinary research that considers how dog owners are making their acquisition choices and, if prioritising different attributes, leads to more optimal acquisition choices.

The patient had recently visited Pakistan and presented with sudden onset pain at the base of their right fifth digit after trying to catch a cricket ball.
