Reporting patient experiences within elective perioperative care: a scoping review.

Patient experience is an important descriptor of the human experience of healthcare. Specifically, it is described as the sum of all interactions, shaped by an organization's culture, that influence patient perceptions, across the continuum of care. Currently, patient experience is measured with a focus on the hospital experience.

Lead in painted surfaces and dusts from rented urban properties (Plymouth, UK).

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry has been used to measure lead (Pb) in painted surfaces and indoor dusts from 14 rented properties in the city of Plymouth, UK. Lead was detected in 78 out of 164 surfaces measured (and in 69 out of 150 interior surfaces) with an overall median concentration of 7100 mg kg (range from 157 to 139,000 mg kg), and was detected in all but two properties that included one building constructed within the last 25 years. Selected measurements on an area basis (n = 48) returned Pb concentrations ranging from below 0.

Signs of left heart volume overload in severely anaemic cats.

Anaemia induces haemodynamic compensatory mechanisms resulting in volume overload and increased left heart dimensions in humans and dogs. The aims of this retrospective study were to investigate the effects of anaemia on echocardiographic left heart dimensions, vertebral heart size (VHS) and radiographic evidence of congestive heart failure (CHF) in cats. Fifteen cats fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were classified as mildly anaemic (haematocrit (Hct)>18-24%) or severely anaemic (Hct≤18%).
