Findings of Abdominal Imaging in Patients with COVID-19 - Part 1: Hollow Organs.

Since COVID-19 has spread worldwide, the role of imaging for early detection of the disease has become more prominent. Abdominal symptoms in COVID-19 are common in addition to respiratory manifestations. This review collected the available data about abdominal computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography indications in hollow abdominal organs in patients with COVID-19 and their findings.

Extra-adrenal, non-functional adrenocortical carcinoma presenting with acute abdomen: a case report.

Background: Adrenocortical carcinoma is a rare malignancy, with 43% being non-functional. These may arise from adrenal rest anywhere in the embryonic pathway of the adrenal glands. In the context of extra-adrenal and retroperitoneal tumors, the exact pathologic diagnosis is challenging.

Laparoscopic Heller Myotomy for Achalasia: Experience from a Single Referral Tertiary Center.

BACKGROUND Achalasia is the most well known esophageal motility disorder. Laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM) is the most effective treatment for achalasia. The aim of this study was to review our results on LHM for achalasia.

Significance of platelet count in esophageal carcinomas.

Background/aim: Thrombocytosis is found to be associated with unfavorable prognosis in esophageal carcinoma. Platelets produce thymidine phosphorylase which is a platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor with angiogenic activity. Increased platelet count may be translated into enhanced tumor growth.
