Graphene oxide (GO) and its derivatives have several applications in many areas such as environmental and energy materials, water treatment and biomedical technologies. Because of having various polar groups on its surface, GO is considered as an excellent adsorbent. However, for many applications such as adsorption of pollution from aqueous solutions, chemical functionalization of graphene oxide is often a necessary requirement.

In this study, a new composite from silica coated MnFeO nanoparticles, diethylenetriamine, 3-chloropropyl trimethoxysilane and Mg-Al Layered Double Hydroxide (Mg-Al LDH/DETA/CPTMS/SCNPs) composite was synthesized. The Mg-Al LDH/DETA/CPTMS/SCNPs composite was examined by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM). The synthesized composite exhibited magnetic property with a saturation magnetization of 0.

In this study, new 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde linked FeO/chitosan-polyacrylamide nanocomposite (FeO@CS@Am@Nph) were prepared. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM) and Termogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde modified FeO@CS@Am@Nph nanocomposite was used as an effective adsorbent for removal of everzol black from aqueous solutions by batch adsorption procedure.

This review is an attempt to give an overview on the recent advances and developments in the synthesis of 2-oxazolidinone frameworks through carbon dioxide (CO) fixation reactions under solvent-free conditions. The cycloaddition of CO to aziridine derivatives is discussed first. This is followed by carboxylative cyclization of -propargylamines with CO and three-component coupling of epoxides, amines, and CO.

Transition-metal catalyzed cross-dehydrogenative-coupling reactions encompass highly versatile and atom economical methods for the construction of various carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds by combining two C(X)-H (X = heteroatom) bonds. Along this line, direct acyloxylation of C-H bonds with carboxylic acids has emerged as a powerful and green approach for the synthesis of structurally diverse esters. In this focus-review we will describe recent progress in direct esterification of aromatic C-H bonds with special emphasis on the mechanistic features of the reactions.

In the present study, nano-sized titanium oxides were applied for preconcentration and determination of Pb(II) in aqueous samples using hollow fiber based solid-liquid phase microextraction (HF-SLPME) combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). In this work, the nanoparticles dispersed in caprylic acid as an extraction solvent was placed into a polypropylene porous hollow fiber segment supported by capillary forces and sonification. This membrane was in direct contact with solutions containing Pb (II).

Two and Three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (2D, 3D-QSAR) study was performed for some pyrazole-thiazolinone derivatives as EGFR kinase inhibitors using the CoMFA, CoMSIA and GA-MLR methods. The utilized data set was split into training and test set based on hierarchical clustering technique. From the five CoMSIA descriptors, electrostatic field presented the highest correlation with the activity.

A new design of hollow fiber solid-liquid phase microextraction (HF-SLPME) was developed for the determination of benzodiazepines (BZPs) in hair, urine and wastewater. The membrane extraction with 1-pentyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide coated titanium dioxide ([PMIM]Br@TiO2) sorbent used in this research is a two-phase supported membrane extraction consisting of an aqueous (donor phase), and n-octanol/nano [PMIM]Br@TiO2 (acceptor phase) system operated in direct immersion sampling mode. The 1-pentyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (ionic liquid) coated nano TiO2 dispersed in the organic solvent (n-octanol) is held into a porous membrane supported by capillary forces and sonification.

In this approach, electro-oxidation of a mixture of uric acid and ascorbic acid at the surface of tosyl surface carbon nanoparticles/glassy carbon electrode has been performed. The electro-oxidation of these compounds at bare electrode is sluggish and there is no suitable peak separation between them. However, using functionalized carbon nanoparticles, two well-defined anodic peaks with a considerable enhancement in the peak current and a remarkable peak potential separation near 452 mV is obtained.
