Objective: Having a good quality of life has always been desirable for humans and the concept of a good life and the ways of achieving it have been focused over the years. Personal wellbeing is the mental component of quality of life. Thus, the current study was conducted to estimate psychometric characteristics of "personal well-being index-adult" (PWI-A) in mothers of mentally retarded students of exceptional schools in northern districts of Tehran.

These lipoproteins are transported in plasma and are also associated with blood leucocytes. Our aim was to investigate whether apoB-containing lipoproteins are also present on the surface of erythrocytes and investigate the relationship with the presence of atherosclerosis in a cross-sectional study.

Polymorphisms of the MBL2 gene and its promoter, and especially haplotypes, determine MBL plasma levels. MBL deficiency has been associated with the development of atherosclerosis.

Micro and nano-structure hydroxyapatite samples were synthesized via several different methods. The samples were characterised utilising the Fourier transmission infra-red, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction methods, to find out the structure most similar to human tooth enamel, and the best method was found. The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signals of the gamma-irradiated samples were measured using an EPR spectrometer system.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLipoprotein transport is thought to occur in the plasma compartment of the blood, where lipoproteins are modulated by various enzymatic reactions. Subsequently, lipoproteins can migrate through the endothelial barrier to the subendothelial space or are taken up by the liver. The interaction between pro-atherogenic (apoB-containing) lipoproteins and blood cells (especially monocytes and macrophages) in the subendothelial space is well known.

Purpose: To evaluate the association between fixation preference (FP) and amblyopia in strabismic patients.
Methods: This study includes 50 patients with horizontal, vertical or mixed strabismus of at least 10 prism diopters. Best-corrected monocular visual acuity (VA) was measured using Snellen E-chart and the presence of amblyopia was determined accordingly; FP was evaluated and graded from 0 to 3.
Mannose binding lectin (MBL) is one of the three initiators of complement activation and is therefore closely linked to inflammation. MBL deficiency has been associated with the generation of atherosclerosis. Since atherosclerosis, the complement system and postprandial lipemia are linked to inflammation, we studied postprandial lipoprotein metabolism in MBL deficiency.

Objective: To find the incidence of sick leave because of neck and shoulder pain (NSP) in industrial workers, and its association with work and lifestyle risk factors.
Summary Of Background Data: Longitudinal studies to investigate NSP incidence and risk factors are rare, and even fewer have been conducted in middle- and low-income countries.
Postprandial hyperlipidaemia has been associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). We investigated which of the generally used methods to test postprandial lipaemia differentiated best between patients with premature CAD (50+/-4 years, n=20) and healthy controls. Furthermore, the effects of rosuvastatin 40 mg/day on postprandial parameters were assessed.

This descriptive, analytical study was carried out in 2008 to determine the prevalence of pediculosis capitis and some risk factors among primary-school pupils in Bahar, Hamadan Province, Iran.
Methods: We selected 900 pupils (50% girls and 50% boys) from 18 primary schools by multistage, systematic random sampling.
Objective: Women with fertility problems experience a higher prevalence of negative emotions than women without fertility problems. The goal of this study was to compare the effects of psychological intervention with psychotropic medication on the mental health improvement of depressed infertile women.
Study Design: In a randomized controlled clinical trial, 89 depressed infertile women that they were recruited and divided into three groups in three groups: cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), antidepressant therapy, and a control group.

Postprandial hyperlipidemia is considered to be a substantial risk factor for atherosclerosis. Interestingly, this concept has never been supported by randomized clinical trials. The difficulty lies in the fact that most interventions aimed to reduce postprandial lipemia, will also affect LDL-C levels.

Aims And Methods: The prevalence of neck and shoulder pain and its association with work-related physical and psychosocial factors and life style was determined by a cross-sectional survey using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) in the largest Iranian car manufacturing company, with more than 18,000 employees.
Results: A total of 14,384 (79.
Aim: To test the hypothesis that workplace psychosocial factors such as demand, control, support, job satisfaction and job appreciation can predict the future onset of disabling low back pain (LBP).
Methods: The present study involved a prospective cohort of 4500 Iranian industrial workers. Data were gathered by means of a self-reported questionnaire about LBP, as well as working life exposure, lifestyle factors, social exposures, co-morbidity, life events and psychosomatic complaints in 2004.
Objective: Postprandial lipemia has been linked to atherosclerosis and inflammation. Because leukocyte activation is obligatory for atherogenesis, leukocyte activation by triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) was investigated.
Methods And Results: The expression of CD11b and CD66b after incubation with glucose and native and artificial TRLs (NTRL and ATRL) in vivo and in vitro was evaluated by flowcytometry.
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a major health problem in the world. Self-reported questionnaires are a known method for estimating the prevalence of MSDs among the population. One of the studies concerning MSDs and their relation to work-related physical and psychosocial factors, as well as non-work-related factors, is the MUSIC-Norrtalje study in Sweden.

During the postprandial phase, chylomicrons and their remnants can penetrate the intact endothelium and cause foam cell formation. These particles are highly atherogenic after modification.

Study Design: A prospective cohort study with 1-year follow-up.
Objectives: To assess incidence and recurrence of disabling low back (LBP) and neck-shoulder pain (NSP) in an industrial population, and to investigate the association with sex and job title during follow-up.
Summary Of Background Data: Epidemiologic data of LBP and NSP are sparse from developing countries.
Background: Most epidemiological data concerning low back pain (LBP) are from high-income countries and there is very little information about LBP in the working population in developing countries.
Objectives: To determine the prevalence of LBP in Iranian industrial workers. To explore associations between LBP and physical and psychosocial factors at work, as well as lifestyle factors.
We investigated the relationship between complement component 3 (C3), fasting and postprandial lipemia and the metabolic syndrome (MetabS). Herefore fasting and postprandial samples after an acute oral fat load were obtained in 40 MetabS+ (50+/-8 years) and 70 MetabS- (48+/-7 years) subjects. Fasting C3 was higher in MetabS+ (1.
