Liver Biopsy Technique for Analysis of Hepatic Content during Pregnancy and Early Lactation in Dairy Goats.

Biopsy techniques in dairy goats are currently limited. This study aimed to describe a liver biopsy technique in dairy goats and to evaluate liver triglyceride levels and glycogen content. Sixty-nine dairy goats in the final stage of pregnancy and early lactation period were selected.

In addition, water demand continues to grow due to increased human use and a growing population. Sustainably managing water resources requires a thorough understanding of water storage and flow in natural, agricultural, and urban ecosystems.

Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the therapeutic intervention manual Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment (ReST) into brazilian portuguese.

Purpose: To translate and culturally adapt the intervention manual "Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment (ReST)" into Brazilian Portuguese (PB).

Methods: The translation and linguistic adaptation process followed the criteria proposed by Beaton and Guillemin: Stage 1 - Translation; Stage 2 - Synthesis of translations; Stage 3 - Back translation; Stage 4 - Expert committee review; Stage 5 - Pilot study; and Stage 6 - Evaluation of records by the researcher and expert committee.

Results: In the adaptation stage, the need to modify terms and instructions translated into Portuguese by the translators for the clinical speech therapy context was shown for terms such as "beats," "sounds," and "smooth," as well as the adequacy of the choice of vowels, since in PB there is no schwa vowel [ə], and there is no possible "equivalence" for Portuguese.

Lightning patterns in the Pantanal: Untangling natural and anthropogenic-induced wildfires.

The identification of fire causes and characteristics is of fundamental importance to better understand fire regimes and drivers. Particularly for Brazil, there is a gap in the quantification of lightning-caused fires. Accordingly, this work is a novel probabilistic assessment of the spatial-temporal patterns of lightning-ignited wildfires in the Pantanal wetland.

ATLANTIC ANTS: a data set of ants in Atlantic Forests of South America.

Objective The goal of this review was to determine whether calcium silicate (wollastonite) as a bone graft material is a viable alternative to autogenous bone or whether the evidence base for its use is weak. Methods In this systematic review, electronic databases (MEDLINE/PubMed and BVS) were searched for relevant articles in indexed journals. Background: The fungus-farming ant genus (Formicidae: Myrmicinae) is represented by a single species, Sosa-Calvo et al., known from a few localities in Brazil (in the states of Ceará, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and the Distrito Federal), and a single locality in the Misiones province, Argentina. is known to occur predominantly in savanna habitats and occasionally in the transition zones between the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado.

Relationship between adiponectin, obesity and insulin resistance.

Objectives: the conditions of obesity and overweight pose a major risk for a number of comorbidities, including clinical syndromes resulting from atherosclerotic disease. Impact of exercise on the functional capacity and pain of patients with knee osteoarthritis: a randomized clinical trial.

Background: Muscle weakness, especially of the quadriceps muscle, is one of the major musculoskeletal effects of knee osteoarthritis. Exercises are considered one of the main interventions in the conservative treatment of those patients.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of quadriceps strengthening exercises on functional capacity and symptoms related of knee osteoarthritis by use of the Timed Up and Go test (TUG), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and the Lequesne Index.
