Direct sac puncture versus transarterial embolization of type II endoleaks after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair: Comparison of outcomes.

Purpose: Type 2 endoleak (T2EL) is the most common type of endoleak after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR), and increases the risk of aneurysm sac rupture if it persists beyond 6 months. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of direct sac puncture versus transarterial embolization of T2ELs.

Methods: Retrospective review of 42 consecutive T2EL embolization procedures, 19 by DSP and 23 by transarterial technique, between January 2015 and December 2020.

Preparedness of Residents and Medical Students for the Transition to Competence by Design in Diagnostic Radiology Post-Graduate Medical Education.

This needs assessment evaluated residents' and medical students' knowledge of Competence by Design (CBD), perceived benefits of and challenges or barriers to the transition to CBD for residents, and perceived overall preparedness for the transition to CBD in diagnostic radiology. All diagnostic radiology residents and medical students in Canada were eligible to participate in this national cross-sectional, questionnaire-based needs assessment. Knowledge of CBD was evaluated through participants' self-reported rating of their knowledge of CBD on a 5-point Likert scale.

Mosaic mentoring: finding the right mentor for the issue at hand.

Mentoring has a vital role throughout the medical profession. Over the past few years, mentoring has become an area of focus as being an important aspect of radiologists' career starting from the early trainee level. A variety of mentorship strategies have come to the forefront, allowing many avenues for those seeking to engage in mentorship as either a mentee or mentor.

Teaching Radiology to Medical Students in Canada; a Virtual, Integrative, Clinical Approach.

Purpose: To construct, apply, and evaluate a multidisciplinary approach in teaching radiology to Canadian medical students.

Methods: A multidisciplinary team of radiology and other disciplines experts designed an online 5-session course that was delivered to medical students. The topics of each session were clinical cases involving different systems.

The Online Cross-Country Tour: Evaluation of a Novel Online Series for Canadian Radiology Residency Programs and Future Implications for the Radiology CaRMS Process.

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic indefinitely cancelled visiting medical student radiology electives across Canada. In response, the Canadian Association of Radiologists Resident & Fellow Section (CAR RFS) and Medical Student Network (MSN) developed and evaluated an online series for medical students to learn about Canadian radiology residency programs.

Methods: Medical students from any year of training were recruited through the MSN, local radiology interest groups, and social media to attend a 2-week online series of interactive sessions via Zoom with program representatives from Canadian radiology residency programs.

Current Concepts in Multi-Modality Imaging of Solid Tumor Angiogenesis.

There have been rapid advancements in cancer treatment in recent years, including targeted molecular therapy and the emergence of anti-angiogenic agents, which necessitate the need to quickly and accurately assess treatment response. The ideal tool is robust and non-invasive so that the treatment can be rapidly adjusted or discontinued based on efficacy. Since targeted therapies primarily affect tumor angiogenesis, morphological assessment based on tumor size alone may be insufficient, and other imaging modalities and features may be more helpful in assessing response.
