Methyleugenol Has an Antidepressant Effect in a Neuroendocrine Model: In Silico and In Vivo Evidence.

Major depressive disorder is a severe mood disorder characterized by different emotions and feelings. This study investigated the antidepressant activity of the phenylpropanoid methyleugenol (ME) in adult female mice exposed to a stress model induced by dexamethasone. The animals were randomly divided into groups containing eight animals and were pre-administered with dexamethasone (64 μg/kg subcutaneously).

Decreasing prevalence of the acute/subacute clinical form of paracoccidioidomycosis in Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil.

With the objective to evaluate the behavior of paracoccidioidomycosis in the last three decades, clinical and epidemiological data of 595 patients admitted to clinical services of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul from 1980 to 2009 were investigated. Gender, age distribution, clinical form, comorbidity with tuberculosis or AIDS, and mortality were compared by decades of clinical admission. It was shown that during the three decades there was a decrease in women percentage, and the same manner occurred a reduction in participants in the age group of 20 to 39 years.

Effects of low-level laser therapy at wavelengths of 660 and 808 nm in experimental model of osteoarthritis.

The aim of the present study was to analyze the influence of low-level laser radiation at wavelengths of 660 and 808 nm in an experimental model of osteoarthritis (OA). The sample was composed of 36 male adult Wistar rats divided into three groups (G1, G2 and G3). For the induction of cartilage injury, three injections of 4% papain and 10 μL of a cysteine solution were performed at right knee of the hind leg.
