A cystoid maculopathy (stellate striation) was observed in both eyes after a complete ophthalmologic examination performed in the emergency ward at the Clínica de Olhos da Sanata Casa de Belo Horizonte. The absence of contrast leakage in the foveal region identified by fluorescein angiography and the presence of cysts and increase of foveal thickness in optical coherence tomography suggested juvenile retinoschisis which could be confirmed through electroretinogram.
