Support roles, carer burden, and decision-making preferences of carers of older adults with cancer.

Introduction: Older adults with cancer value the perspectives of significant others and their carers regarding decision-making about treatment. Understanding the support provided by carers, and their perspectives on involvement in treatment decision-making, can help us improve our communication with patients and their supports. We aimed to describe the roles, burden, and decision-making preferences of carers of older adults with cancer.

Case Report: Macula Structural and Functional Assessment in Nab-Paclitaxel-Related Cystoid Macular Edema.

Nab-paclitaxel-related cystoid macular edema is a rare ophthalmic adverse drug reaction. We present a 54-year-old woman with metastatic hormone receptor positive, HER-2 negative breast carcinoma who developed profound bilateral vision loss after the seventh cycle of nab-paclitaxel treatment. Optical coherence tomography and macula microperimetry demonstrated macular edema and decreased threshold sensitivity, respectively.

Dried Blood Spot Sampling in the Monitoring of Anticancer Therapy for Solid Tumors: A Systematic Review.

Background: Dried blood spot (DBS) sampling is a convenient alternative to whole-blood sampling for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to systematically review studies that have examined and used DBS sampling for the TDM of chemotherapy and targeted therapy agents for the treatment of patients with solid cancers.

Methods: Using the PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature search of EMBASE and PUBMED was performed to identify eligible clinical studies that used DBS sampling to monitor chemotherapy or targeted therapy for the treatment of solid cancers.

Analytical framework for value added utilization of glass waste in concrete: Mechanical and environmental performance.

This work was designed to incorporate glass waste as partial replacement of coarse aggregate in concrete through optimization of its amount by assessment of mechanical and environmental performances. Fresh and hardened properties of glass waste concrete were evaluated and compared with the conventional concrete. Moreover, compressive strength was evaluated experimentally as well as analytically at different ages.
