This work demonstrates a cost-effective manufacturing method of flexible and fully printed microheaters, using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as the heating element. Two different structures with different number of CNT layers have been characterized in detail. The benchmarking has been carried out in terms of maximum operating temperature, as well as nominal resistance and input power for different applied voltages.

Herein we present the functionalization of freestanding silicon nanosheets (SiNSs) by radical-induced hydrosilylation reactions. An efficient hydrosilylation of Si-H terminated SiNSs can be achieved by thermal initiation or the addition of diazonium salts with a variety of alkene or alkyne derivatives. The radical-induced hydrosilylation is applicable for a wide variety of substrates with different functionalities, improving the stability and dispersibility of the functional SiNSs in organic solvents and potentially opening up new fields of application for these hybrid materials.

Photoactive reaction centers (RCs) are protein complexes in bacteria able to convert sunlight into other forms of energy with a high quantum yield. The photostimulation of immobilized RCs on inorganic electrodes result in the generation of photocurrent that is of interest for biosolar cell applications. This paper reports on the use of novel electrodes based on functional conductive nanocrystalline diamond onto which bacterial RCs are immobilized.
