Diabetes is a lifestyle disease which can cause many complications and organ-related disorders. The aim of the study was to analyze selected aspects of preparing patients with diabetes for self-care. The study group consisted of 190 people diagnosed with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including 101 women and 89 men.

Arterial hypertension (AH) is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases increasing mortality rates in Poland and worldwide. Due to its prevalence, complications and treatment costs, AH is a significant health-related, economic and social problem. Senior citizens are at an increased risk of developing chronic conditions, which in turn increase discomfort associated with physiological processes of aging. Sensations of pain have a particular influence on the mentioned discomfort, and pain is prevalent among older people.
