Among the possible adverse reactions to gluten, celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and IgE-mediated wheat allergy have been classically described. A non-IgE-mediated reaction similar to food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) after inadvertent gluten ingestion in a celiac patient was recently reported. We present three children affected by celiac disease with exquisite control, including appropriate adherence to an exclusion diet, who suffered a severe adverse food reaction after unappreciated outdoor ingestion of gluten, meeting the criteria for a definitive diagnosis of FPIES.

Background: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) has some distinctive features like greater proportion of reverse-TCM and central nervous system disease as a prevalent triggering cause. We expose the case of a child with cardiogenic shock presenting an atypical echocardiographic TCM pattern on an echocardiography, after an acute neurologic trigger. We also include a systematic literature review of previously described cases of atypical-TCM in children.

Background: Different lung ultrasound (LUS) scanning protocols have been used, and the results in terms of diagnostic accuracy are heterogeneous.

Research Questions: What is the diagnostic accuracy of the LUS score to predict moderate to severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (msBPD)? Does scanning of posterior lung fields improve the diagnostic accuracy?

Study Design And Methods: This was a multicenter prospective, observational study in six centers. Two LUS aeration scores, one involving only anterolateral lung fields and the other adding the posterior fields were obtained at birth, on the third day of life (DOL), on the seventh DOL, on the 14th DOL, and on the 21st DOL.
