Objective: According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation of the University of Washington (IHME), exposure to lead caused 900,000 deaths worldwide in 2019. The objective of this work was to expose the case of a lead poisoning outbreak, as well as to describe the investigation carried out to determine its origin.

Methods: After the clinical analysis of the affected people, in which high levels of lead were detected in blood samples, the pertinent epidemiological surveys were carried out.

During the state of alert declared in the national territory in March 2020 due to the health crisis caused by SARS-CoV-2, the free movement of the population was restricted in order to prevent the spread of the virus. In the Balearic Islands, access by air and sea was limited and, in addition, health controls were established at the entry points of the islands aimed to detect people with COVID-19. The health check is understood as a Public Health surveillance procedure through which all persons authorised to travel at that time were tested.

Background: In order for vaccination programs to be carried out properly, it is essential for the vaccination coverage to be known. On the Balearic Islands, the reported coverage was much less than for the rest of Spain. The objective of this study is that of estimating the coverage of the vaccinations included on the recommended schedule up to 18 months of age (4 doses of oral polio, tetanus and diphtheria; 3 doses of whooping cough; 1 dose of measles, rubella and mumps).
