Electronic waste (e-waste) poses significant environmental and health risks in Thailand due to both domestic production and international imports. A notable portion of this waste is processed in small-scale, community-based workshops, often located in poorer regions, where safety regulations are improperly enforced or entirely ignored. This study focuses on the Kalasin province in Northern Thailand, a region with numerous such workshops, where no comprehensive analysis of exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and dechlorane plus (DP) has been conducted.

In Oman, DDT was sprayed indoors during an intensive malaria eradication program between 1976 and 1992. DDT can remain for years after spraying and is associated with potential health risk. This raises the concern for human exposure in areas where DDT was used for indoor spraying.

Despite the fact that the occurrence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the atmospheric environment has been studied for decades the photochemistry, deposition and, consequently, the long-range transport potential (LRTP) are not well understood. The reason is gas-particle partitioning (GPP) in the aerosol, its sensitivity to temperature and particulate phase composition, and sampling artefacts', and reactivity's sensitivities towards particulate phase composition. Furthermore, most PAHs are subject to re-volatilisation upon deposition to surfaces (multihopping).

To explain observed decadal trends in concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil at the Kosetice observatory, Czech Republic, an environmental distribution model for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) based on the fugacity approach was developed. Weekly air concentrations were used as input data for the unsteady state model and concentrations in soil were calculated. In general, agreement between measured and predicted soil concentrations of PAHs was observed.

The regional observatory Kosetice is a central European background station. Unique continuous monitoring from 1988 on is held here. POP (persistent organic pollutant) concentration values of air samples from Kosetice taken between 1996 and 2005 were statistically processed.
