Artificial Intelligence-based Radiomics in the Era of Immuno-oncology.

The recent, rapid advances in immuno-oncology have revolutionized cancer treatment and spurred further research into tumor biology. Yet, cancer patients respond variably to immunotherapy despite mounting evidence to support its efficacy. Current methods for predicting immunotherapy response are unreliable, as these tests cannot fully account for tumor heterogeneity and microenvironment.

Facial nerve hemangioma: a case report.

Although hemangiomas are relatively common in the head and neck, those that originate in the facial nerve are extremely rare. These benign tumors have the potential to compress or invade the adjacent facial nerve and thereby produce facial paralysis and other associated symptoms. We present a case of facial nerve hemangioma in a 15-year-old girl that initially manifested as unilateral facial weakness.

Preliminary investigation on use of high-resolution optical coherence tomography to monitor injury and repair in the rat sciatic nerve.

Background And Objective: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has been used in limited settings to study peripheral nerve injury. The purpose of the study is to determine whether high-resolution OCT can be used to monitor nerve injury and regeneration in the rat sciatic nerve following crush injury, ligation, and transection with microsurgical repair.

Study Design/materials And Methods: Forty-five rats were segregated into three groups.

Skull base osteomyelitis: the effect of comorbid disease on hospitalization.

Objectives/hypothesis: Skull base osteomyelitis is a rare disease that has a high morbidity and mortality rate if diagnosis and treatment are delayed. Our objective was to perform a more detailed analysis of skull base osteomyelitis in the inpatient population. We also provide a more comprehensive evaluation of comorbid disease and severity of illness in this population and describe their effects on the duration and cost of hospital stay.

Unusual delayed presentation of a nail gun injury through the skull base.

Published reports of nail gun injuries to the face are uncommon. We describe an unusual delayed presentation with injury through the infratemporal fossa and a literature review. A 55-year-old patient presented 2 weeks after an unrecognized injury with complaints of a headache.
