Article Synopsis
  • Psoriasis is a long-lasting inflammatory disease with no known cure, often requiring ongoing treatment, especially for moderate to severe cases.
  • A study evaluated the long-term effectiveness of anti-TNFα biologic agents (infliximab, etanercept, adalimumab) in 210 psoriatic patients over a decade, finding that about one-third of them maintained good results with their treatments.
  • The median survival rates for the treatments were approximately 9.5-10 years, suggesting these agents can be effective long-term, but more research is needed to identify factors affecting treatment success or failure over time.

Aim Of The Study: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) can cause a chronic liver infection which could then develop into fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Today the diagnosis of liver fibrosis also includes the use of biomarkers. The purpose of our study was to determine the ability of the fibrosis index based on four factors (FIB-4) and aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio (APRI) to predict the severity of liver fibrosis or cirrhosis.
