In this study, we report the successful synthesis of Ni-doped ZnS nanocomposite via a green route using ethanolic crude extract of Avena fatua. The as-synthesized nanocomposite was comprehensively characterized using Dynamic light scattering (DLS), Zeta potential, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Atomic force microscopy (AFM). These analyses provided detailed insights into the size, morphology, composition, surface properties, and structural characteristics of the nanocomposite.

Congenital lung agenesis is a rare congenital abnormality associated with an absence or under-development of either one or both lungs, and its presentation in adulthood is even rarer. Biopolymers are a solution to solve the increasing problems caused by the advances and revolution in the electronic industry owing to the use of hazardous chemicals. In this work, we have used egg white (EW) as the low-cost functional layer of a biocompatible humidity sensor and deposited it on gold (Au) interdigitated electrodes (IDEs) patterned through the state-of-the-art fabrication technology of thermal vacuum evaporation. The presence of hydrophilic proteins inside the thin film of EW makes it an attractive candidate for sensing humidity.

We reviewed the patient demographics, injury mechanisms, fracture characteristics, treatment modalities, and outcomes of incarcerated patients who were referred for metacarpal fracture evaluation and treatment to our high-volume tertiary care center from a New York City Department of Correction infirmary facility. There is a scarcity of information in the orthopedic and plastic surgery literature on treating these common fractures in this vulnerable population. We conducted a basic statistical analysis and discuss the potential implications of these findings.
