This study focused on the waste management of livestock manure and wetland plant residues and their increasing effect on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The benefits of nutrient-rich plants and manures are often overlooked. By conducting a soil column experiment with a fully factorial design, this work found that adding the vermicompost amendments of wetland plants [combination of Canna indica (CiV), Cyperus alternifollius (CaV), Acorus calamus (AcV), and Hydrocotyle vulgaris (HvV) vermicompost] to agricultural wastes affected maize growth throughout its growing season.

Background: Hand Foot Syndrome (HFS) is a frequent adverse effect observed in patients undergoing capecitabine chemotherapy, often leading to treatment disruptions and dose adjustments. Elevated C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) levels have been associated with the development of HFS. This study aimed to assess the potential of unrefined Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) supplementation in mitigating HFS and hs-CRP elevation among individuals receiving capecitabine chemotherapy.

COVID-19 and diet: efforts towards a balanced diet and sustainable nutrition among university students in Pakistan.

Nutrition is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle for all individuals, including adolescents. The objective of this cross-sectional descriptive survey study was to investigate university students' awareness of immunity enhancing foods, food nutritive values, and eating practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 839 university students from four different universities in Pakistan participated in the study from October 2021 to January 2022, 397 of which were male and 442 were female.

Basic carbohydrate counting and glycemia in young people with type 1 diabetes in India: A randomized controlled trial.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect on glycemic control and acceptability of basic carbohydrate counting (BCC) in children and young adults with type 1 diabetes (T1DM).

Methods: Ninety-two children and young adults (6-25 y of age) with T1DM were randomized to receive either routine nutrition education (RNE), which addressed food groups, glycemic index, and effects of food and exercise on glycemia, or learn BCC with personalized portion size education. A continuous glucose monitoring study and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) were performed at baseline and after 12 wk.

Effect of probiotic incorporation on physicochemical attributes of yogurt during storage and influence on cholesterol assimilation.

This study aimed to evaluate the incorporation effect of probiotic culture (Lactobacillus acidophilus) in buffalo milk yogurt on stability and microbial survival rate during storage. In addition, the influence of probiotic culture on blood lipid profiles was investigated for a period of 6 weeks. Yogurt was prepared with buffalo milk with different probiotic concentrations (0, 100, and 50%) and administered to subjects at 300 g/day.
