Rotavirus, a leading cause of severe acute gastroenteritis in children, is largely preventable through immunization with two internationally licensed oral rotavirus vaccines (RVVs) included in national programs across over 100 countries. These RVVs are administered in either two (Rotarix™; 2D-RV) or three (RotaTeq®; 3D-RV) doses. We aimed to assess the global coverage, completion, and compliance of 2D-RV and 3D-RV in various settings, and to identify factors influencing vaccine coverage.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare respiratory complications during extubation in two positions: conventional recovery position versus a modified recovery position with a 10-degree left tilt and head-down.
  • Conducted at Combined Military Hospital in Pakistan from April 2022 to March 2023, 200 elective nose and throat surgery patients were divided into two groups, excluding those with certain respiratory conditions or multiple intubation attempts.
  • Results showed significantly fewer airway complications in the modified recovery position group (6%) compared to the conventional group (18%), suggesting that the modified position is safer for extubation.

The performance of the Graphene/Si (Gr/Si) Schottky interface and its potential in future electronics strongly rely on the quality of interconnecting contacts with external circuitry. In this work, we investigate the dominating and limiting factors of Gr/Si interfaces designed for high light absorption, paying particular attention to the nature of the contact failure under high electrostatic discharge (ESD) conditions. Our findings indicate that severe current crowding at contact edges of the graphene is the dominating factor for the device breakdown.

Charge-coupled devices (CCD) allow imaging by photodetection, charge integration, and serial transfer of the stored charge packets from multiple pixels to the readout node. The functionality of CCD can be extended to the non-destructive and in-situ readout of the integrated charges by replacing metallic electrodes with graphene in the metal-oxide-semiconductors (MOS) structure of a CCD pixel. The electrostatic capacitive coupling of graphene with the substrate allows the Fermi level tuning that reflects the integrated charge density in the depletion well.

Silicon is vital for its high abundance, vast production, and perfect compatibility with the well-established CMOS processing industry. Recently, artificially stacked layered 2D structures have gained tremendous attention via fine-tuning properties for electronic devices. This article presents neuromorphic devices based on silicon nanosheets that are chemically exfoliated and surface-modified, enabling self-assembly into hierarchical stacking structures.

Purpose: This study presents the case history of a 58-year-old woman with a diagnosed spontaneous carotid-cavernous fistula on the left side and mild hypertension.

The First Signs Of This Disease Were: Headache, double vision, proptosis, ptosis of the left upper lid, paresis of the left abducens nerve, conjunctival edema, dilatation and tortuosity of the vessels in conjunctiva and episclera. In the course of this disease a massive central retinal vein occlusion occurred in the left eye.
