Background: Managing the heat generated in microprocessors and other similar heat-generating devices requires the design and construction of superconductors with high reliability. For this purpose, heat pipes (HPs) are a very good option. Nano-grooved micro flat plate heat pipes (FPHPs), which are in the group of vapor chambers (VCs), have received attention due to their suitable structure.

Background: Obtaining functional sperm cells is the first step to treat infertility. With the ever-increasing trend in male infertility, clinicians require access to effective solutions that are able to single out the most viable spermatozoa, which would max out the chance for a successful pregnancy. The new generation techniques for sperm selection involve microfluidics, which offers laminar flow and low Reynolds number within the platforms can provide unprecedented opportunities for sperm selection.

Till now electron microscopy techniques have not been used to evaluate the plasma-target interactions undergone during the magnetron sputtering process. The destructive nature of this interaction severely alters the target microstructure. Utilising quantitative microscopy techniques can shed light on the complex plasma and solid-state processes involved which can ultimately lead to improved functional thin film deposition.
