This study aimed to investigate the influence of utilizing high levels of solvent extracted Camelina sativa meal (Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz, Arslanbey cultivar) in broilers. A total of 270 Ross 308 male chicks were randomly distributed into five groups.

Serum Zinc Levels in Iron Deficient Women: A Case-Control Study.

Since similar symptoms and findings can be seen in the deficiencies of both iron and zinc, we aimed to evaluate the serum zinc levels of women with iron deficiency anemia (IDA). This study was conducted with women with iron deficiency and a healthy control group. When serum zinc levels were compared, they were found to be lower in the IDA group, which was statistically significant.

An uncommon case of acute brucellosis presenting with severe thrombocytopenia.

A 49-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with complaints of fatigue, epistaxis and a skin rash. The whole blood count revealed isolated thrombocytopenia (4,000/mL), and the patient was admitted to the hematology department with a diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenia. He did not respond to steroid treatment for 15 days, and a subfebrile fever developed during this period.

Therapeutic plasma exchange in patients with neurologic diseases: retrospective multicenter study.

Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is commonly used in many neurological disorders where an immune etiology was known or suspected. We report our experience with TPE performed for neuroimmunologic disorders at four university hospitals. The study was a retrospective review of the medical records of neurological patients (n=57) consecutively treated with TPE between April 2006 and May 2007.

Rheumatic diseases and chronic myelogenous leukemia, presentation of four cases and review of the literature.

We report four patients with rheumatic disease (RD) and chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). In two patients with Behcet's disease (BD) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), CML developed after RD, in two patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis and spondyloarthropathy, RD was diagnosed after CML. A variety of interactions have been described between hematological malignancies and RD.

A rare syndrome that can easily be missed: May-Hegglin anomaly.

May-Hegglin is a rare disease characterized by macrothrombocytopenia and presence of Döhle-like bodies in white cells. We present a patient treated with acute myeloid leukemia had pale-blue colored inclusion bodies assuming Döhle in his neutrophils.

Oxidant/antioxidant parameters and their relationship with medical treatment in multiple myeloma.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a neoplastic disorder characterized by monoclonal multiplying of plasma cells. Although radiation, environmental factors, viruses and other factors have been suggested as potential causes of the disease, the aetiopathogenesis of MM is still obscure. This clinical study was designed to investigate the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the aetiopathogenesis of the disease and the possible relationships between treatment and ROS production.
