Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of bosentan, a dual endothelin receptor antagonist, against skeletal muscle ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in rats.
Methods: A total of 24 male Wistar Albino rats were divided into four groups: control (C, n=6), bosentan-treated (B, n=6), ischemia-reperfusion (IR, n=6), and bosentan plus ischemia-reperfusion (B+IR, n=6). Bosentan (10 mg/kg) was administered 30 minutes prior to reperfusion.
: Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury can affect multiple distant organs following I/R in the lower extremities. BPC-157's anti-inflammatory and free radical-neutralizing properties suggest its potential in mitigating ischemia-reperfusion damage. This study evaluates the protective effects of BPC-157 on remote organ damage, including the kidneys, liver, and lungs, in a rat model of skeletal muscle I/R injury.

Objectives: Propionic acidemia (PA) is an autosomal recessive multisystem disorder caused by the deficiency of propionyl-CoA carboxylase, encoded by and genes. This retrospective study presents the clinical and laboratory characteristics of PA patients followed up in our center.
Methods: Included in the study were 50 patients diagnosed in a single center with propionic acidemia between 1984 and 2020, whose electronic and written hospital records regarding demographic, clinical, and laboratory features, along with diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, were reviewed retrospectively.
Background/aim: NAD(P)HX epimerase (NAXE) gene mutations have been associated with early onset progressive encephalopathy. We present three patients with NAXE gene mutations and different initial manifestations.
Cases: Patient(P)1 was a 30 month-old boy whose neurological regression started after an infection and progressed, ultimately leading to death one year later.
Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a process in which impaired perfusion is restored by restoring blood flow and tissue recirculation. Nanomedicine uses cutting-edge technologies that emerge from interdisciplinary influences. In the literature, there are very few in vivo and in vitro studies on how cerium oxide (CeO) affects systemic anti-inflammatory response and inflammation.

We aimed to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD) in adults with cPKU and determine the risk factors associated with low BMD.
Methods: Eighty adult patients with cPKU were examined, including 41 women and 39 men.
Background: Pregabalin is an antiepileptic drug that binds to the alpha-2/delta unit at presynaptic voltage-dependent calcium channels. We aimed to investigate the effect of acute and chronic pregabalin administration on anxiety and depression-like behaviors.
Methods: Fifty-six male Wistar albino rats were divided into seven groups: control, vehicle, and five different dose groups (5, 10, 30, 60, and 100 mg/kg).
Objective: This study aimed to demonstrate whether ozone has cardioprotective effects on the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in rats with streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetes.
Methods: A total of 38 male Wistar Albino rats were divided into five groups as follows: control group (group C,=6), diabetic group (group D,=6), diabetic ozone group (group DO,n=6), diabetic-ischemia/reperfusion (group DIR,=6), diabetic-ischemia/reperfusion-ozone (group DIRO,=6). Six rats died during this period and two died because of surgical complications.
: Lower-extremity ischemia-reperfusion injury can induce distant organ ischemia, and patients with diabetes are particularly susceptible to ischemia-reperfusion injury. Sevoflurane, a widely used halogenated inhalation anesthetic, and fullerenol C60, a potent antioxidant, were investigated for their effects on heart and lung tissues in lower-extremity ischemia-reperfusion injury in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice. : A total of 41 mice were divided into six groups: control ( = 6), diabetes-control ( = 7), diabetes-ischemia ( = 7), diabetes-ischemia-fullerenol C60 ( = 7), diabetes-ischemia-sevoflurane ( = 7), and diabetes-ischemia-fullerenol C60-sevoflurane ( = 7).

Studies conducted thus far to elucidate the function of the Elfn1 have been limited only to animal studies. These studies have reported that ELFN1 is a universal binding partner of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) in the central nervous system and its functional deficiency has been associated with the pathogenesis of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases.

Mitochondrial dysfunction and increased basal oxidative stress in diabetes may cause an increase in the effects of increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial dysfunction due to IRI. It is of great importance to examine therapeutic approaches that can minimize the effects of IRI, especially for patient groups under chronic oxidative stress such as DM.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the use of AP-1 as biomarkers for the discrimination of IIH and MS.
Methods: AP-1, TNF-α, and IL-6 protein values in the CSF of the cases were evaluated by the ELISA method.
Aim: The aim was to compare SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody levels in chronic hepatitis B patients and healthcare personnel selected as the control group and to determine factors such as age, gender, vaccine type, and number of vaccines that may affect the antibody levels.
Materials And Methods: 87 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients followed in Ankara Training and Research Hospital Infectious Diseases Clinic and Mamak State Hospital Infectious Diseases outpatient clinic and 89 healthcare personnel selected as the control group were included in the study.SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody levels in the serum samples of patients and healthcare personnel who received the COVID-19 vaccine were studied with the ELISA method in the Microbiology Laboratory of Ankara Training and Research Hospital, using a commercial ELISA kit (Abbott, USA) in line with the recommendations of the manufacturer.
Proline-5-carboxylate reductase 2, encoded by PYCR2 gene, is an enzyme that catalyzes the last step of proline synthesis from pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase to proline. PYCR2 gene defect causes hypomyelinating leukodystrophy 10. Up until now, to our knowledge around 38 patients with PYCR2 defect have been reported.

This response develops away from the primary infection site and results in end-organ damage. The present study aimed to investigate the protective and therapeutic effects on lung and kidney tissue of silymarin (S) and dexmedetomidine (DEX) applied 1 h before and after sepsis induced by the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) method in rats.

In the present investigation, a specific aptamer binding was chosen for its affinity, while exhibiting no binding affinity towards non-target bacterial cells. This selective binding property was leveraged to facilitate the production of magnetic microparticles decorated with aptamers.

Background: The excessive accumulation of fat tissue in obesity is the source of chronic low-level inflammation and causes future dysmetabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Removal of this excessive fat tissue with the aid of bariatric surgery (BS) techniques, such as sleeve gastrectomy, may reverse adverse inflammatory outcomes. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of sleeve gastrectomy on inflammatory markers, specifically endocan, IL-6, and CRP, in individuals with obesity.
