Hydatid Disease, an Uncommon Etiology of Death in Forensic Practice.

In Tunisia, hydatid cyst is an endemic parasitic disease. The cyst may remain asymptomatic, discovered accidentally, or in case of a complication, the most serious of which is sudden death. We propose, in this article, to analyze the degree of involvement of the cyst in the mechanism of death, through the review of 25 cases.

Colorectal injuries caused by high-pressure air compressors are rare and reported especially among industrial workers. They may appear because of intended or accidental injury. In the present paper, we report a case of colorectal injuries due to air insufflation from a distance towards the anus with the clothes on, as a means of a practical joke.

Sudden Death Due to a Cerebellopontine Angle Epidermoid Cyst: Case Report.

Epidermoid cyst of the brain is a rare benign embryonal tumor. It has an excellent prognosis because of its slow-growing nature. Clinically, symptoms are variable and depend on the location of the cyst.

Sudden death due to left ventricular thrombosis: A report of two autopsy cases.

Purpose: In this paper, we report two rare cases of sudden death due to giant left ventricular thrombus revealed at autopsy and we discuss the manner and the cause of death.

Results: Cases presentation: The two cases reported are about two men aged 55 and 53 years respectively. In the two cases, no past cardiac history was found.

Sudden death and hydatid cyst: A medicolegal study.

The discovery of a hydatid cyst at autopsy poses the problem of its involvement in the mechanism of death. The Code of patients rights and the law no° 2007-12 of 12 February 2007 supplementing the law no° 92-71 of 27 July 1992 related to transmitted diseases ensure the protection and the respect of these rights.

Cervical Injuries in Drowning Cases: A Case Report and a Review of Literature.

Discovery of bruises in the muscles of the neck and a fracture of the hyoid bone in a body recovered from water makes the diagnosis and the determination of the manner of death difficult.The aims of this work are to report a case of a drowned body with cervical injuries and to highlight the importance of interpreting these findings accurately.A 39-year-old woman was found dead face down in a 6-m deep well with a 3-m water level.

Age assessment in canine and premolar by cervical axial sections of cone-beam computed tomography.

Age estimation in adults is a challenge in both anthropological and forensic situations compared to sub-adults age estimation. The present study explored, for the first time, the cervical zone of single rooted teeth. The deposition of secondary dentin is responsible for a decrease in the volume of the dental pulp cavity with aging, and therefore is often used as an age indicator.

Age estimation from the sternal end of the fourth rib: a study of the validity of İşcan's Method in Tunisian male population.

The aim of this study was to assess the fourth rib phase İşcan method on a Tunisian sample. One hundred and eight (108) specimens of sternal ends of fourth ribs of Tunisian male population were collected during forensic autopsies performed in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Pathology of the University Hospital Fattouma Bourguiba of Monastir. Two operators, independently, assigned each rib to İşcan's phase.

Multidisciplinary approach to fatal dog attacks: a forensic case study.

Dog-bite-related injuries and fatalities are increasing in incidence and represent an important public health concern, as dogs are more and more becoming an integral part of human social life. We report the case of a 27-year-old woman who was found dead in her home. Her body was discovered lying face down in a large pool of partially desiccated blood with signs of having been dragged.

Unusual foreign body aspiration as a cause of asphyxia in adults: an autopsy case report.

Most asphyxia deaths caused by foreign body aspiration occur in children and the elderly. It can also occur in specific high-risk groups of adults, such as those with underlying esophageal diseases, prisoners, those with mental retardation, and those with psychiatric illnesses. We report the case of a 49-year-old man, without previous medical history, who died rapidly after aspirating a sole fish while he was unraveling the fishing net using his teeth.

[Towards a new Tunisian Medical Code of Deontology].

The Medical Code of Deontology is a legal text including the physician's duties towards his patients, colleagues, auxiliaries and the community. Considering the scientific, legal and social changes, the deontology code should be revised periodically. The first Tunisian Medical Code of Deontology (TMCD) was promulgated in 1973 and abrogated in 1993 by the new Code.
