In molybdenum-99 (Mo) production facilities via the fission method, appropriate transportation containers must be used to transfer irradiated targets from the irradiation facility to the processing facility, following the requirements for transferring radioactive materials. In the Mo production industrial plan of Iran, the transportation container must be capable of carrying a holster containing nine irradiated low-enriched uranium targets, known as a hot batch. In this article, the proper shielding of two-layer containers based on the gamma spectrum emitted from the radioisotope inventory of a local hot batch, including fission products, activation products, and other radioisotopes produced from their decay chains, was investigated by using Monte Carlo code MCNP6.

Objective: Optimized production and quality control of ytterbium-175 (Yb-175) labeled pamidronate and alendronate complexes as efficient agents for bone pain palliation has been presented.
Methods: Yb-175 labeled pamidronate and alendronate (175Yb-PMD and 175Yb-ALN) complexes were prepared successfully at optimized conditions with acceptable radiochemical purity, stability and significant hydroxyapatite absorption. The biodistribution of complexes were evaluated up to 48 h, which demonstrated significant bone uptake ratios for 175Yb-PAM at all-time intervals.
Objectives: In nuclear medicine studies, gallium-68 ((8)Ga) citrate has been recently known as a suitable infection agent in positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, by applying an in-house produced (68)Ge/(68)Ga generator, a simple technique for the synthesis and quality control of (68)Ga-citrate was introduced; followed by preliminary animal studies.

Introduction: Involvement of the skeleton can cause an excruciating pain in two-thirds of terminal patients with a history of malignancy. Due to several limitations of other therapies, such as analgesics, bisphosphonates, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and external beam radiotherapy; bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals have an important role in palliation of pain from bone metastases. Although these kinds of therapies have many advantages including the ability to treat multiple sites of tumoral involvement simultaneously, no significant confliction with other treatments, ease of administration and the potential to be used repetitively; in Iran using of this modality is not widely practiced.
