The health of poultry flock is crucial in sustainable farming. Recent advances in machine learning and speech analysis have opened up opportunities for real-time monitoring of the behavior and health of flock. However, there has been little research on using Tiny Machine Learning (Tiny ML) for continuous vocalization monitoring in poultry.

Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), a critical player in cellular immortalization, has emerged as a focal point of investigation due to its frequent promoter mutations in various human malignancies. TERT promoter mutations exhibit a significant role in tumorigenesis, fostering unbridled cellular proliferation and survival. This comprehensive review delves into the landscape of TERT promoter mutations and their profound implications in cancer, particularly within the context of gliomas.

Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (HOA: MIM 167100)) is classified into primary and secondary types. Primary HOA, also known as pachydermoperiostosis (PDP), is a rare genetic condition with distinct clinical features including digital clubbing, skin thickening, and periostosis. Secondary HOA often occurs as a paraneoplastic syndrome or is associated with systemic diseases.

In this work, a novel Schottky Barrier MOSFET (SB-MOSFET) structure is presented. The proposed device consists of a dual-material gate and electrostatically doped drain, and the device is denoted as Gate and Drain Engineered Schottky Barrier MOSFET (GDE-SBMOSFET). The use of a dual-material gate and electrostatically doped drain enhances the ON state performance and short channel performance, respectively, in comparison to state-of-the-art devices.

The exponential growth of digital information, particularly user-generated content on social media and blogging platforms, has underscored the importance of sentiment analysis (SA). Arabic language sentiment analysis (ASA) involves identifying the orientation of ideas, feelings, emotions, and attitudes within Arabic text to determine whether they convey a positive, negative, or neutral sentiment. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the past decade, focusing on the utilization of SA in the Arabic language.

Context: For Muslim patients on levothyroxine (L-T4) therapy, the best approach for L-T4 intake during Ramadan fasting remains unclear.

Objective: We compared 2 practical approaches for L-T4 intake during Ramadan.

Methods: We randomly assigned 69 patients (21 males, 48 females, median age 44 years) with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) who underwent thyroidectomy in the past and are on stable LT4 doses to 2 arms.

Article Synopsis
  • This report investigates a family with familial isolated hypoparathyroidism (FIH), highlighting a specific mutation that leads to high levels of functionally inactive parathyroid hormone (PTH) in a 34-year-old woman and her siblings.* -
  • The siblings were diagnosed with pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1b, characterized by chronic low calcium levels and elevated PTH, but without the typical features of related disorders.* -
  • Treatment with teriparatide, a recombinant human PTH, successfully normalized calcium levels and improved wellbeing for the patient, indicating that inactive variants of PTH can lead to complex hypocalcemia cases.*

Article Synopsis
  • - Pathogenic variants (PVs) in the EPAS1 gene, which influences the hypoxia-inducible factor HIF-2α, are linked to about 3%-6% of pheochromocytoma and paragangliomas (PPGLs), either as standalone tumors or as part of Pacak-Zhuang Syndrome (PZS) which may include additional symptoms like polycythemia and somatostatinoma.
  • - The mutations in EPAS1 allow HIF-2α to escape from degradation processes, leading to its accumulation and activation of genes that promote tumor formation, particularly in those diagnosed in their second or third decade of life, with a higher prevalence in females.
  • - Research into the hyp

The rapid advancement of new technologies has resulted in a surge of data, while conventional computers are nearing their computational limits. The prevalent von Neumann architecture, where processing and storage units operate independently, faces challenges such as data migration through buses, leading to decreased computing speed and increased energy loss. Ongoing research aims to enhance computing capabilities through the development of innovative chips and the adoption of new system architectures.

Context: The study undertakes a comparative analysis of four distinct semi-fluorinated chiral Organic Active Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (OAFLCs). The comparative analysis of the compounds is done by using various parameters, including thermodynamic, non-linear optical, electrical, atomic charge distribution, and atomic orientations. We use optimization algorithms to look at chemical reactivity, electrical properties, intermolecular interactions, and static hyperpolarizability.

Primary hyperparathyroidism has emerged as a prevalent endocrine disorder in clinical settings, necessitating in most cases, surgical intervention for the removal of the diseased gland. This condition is characterised by overactivity of the parathyroid glands, resulting in excessive parathyroid hormone production and subsequent disturbances in calcium homeostasis. The primary mode of management is surgical treatment, relying on the accurate localisation of the pathological parathyroid gland.

Background: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a heterogeneous group of adrenal steroidogenesis disorders with variable degrees of glucocorticoid, mineralocorticoid and sex steroid deficiencies. gene encodes the mitochondrial cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme (P450scc), which initiates the first reaction in steroidogenesis by converting cholesterol to pregnenolone. Variants in this gene are extremely rare but associated with severe forms of CAH due to its early and critical function in various steroid biosynthesis pathways.

Background: It has been suggested that metabolic syndrome (MetS) accelerates the aging process, potentially contributing to the development of age-related complications. Available studies examining the relation of MetS to telomere length (TL), a putative biological marker of aging, have yielded inconclusive findings. This meta-analysis was performed to investigate the association between MetS and TL.

Introduction: Hereditary vitamin D resistant rickets (HVDRR) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder marked by end-organ resistance of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D secondary to various mutations in the vitamin D receptor gene. The currently accepted treatment modality involves bypassing the affected receptors in the gut with high-dose intravenous calcium. In a few limited case reports, cinacalcet, a calcimimetic, has been used as an adjunctive therapy.

In 2012, somatic EPAS1 pathogenic variants were found to cause a triad of pheochromocytoma/paragangliomas (PPGLs), polycythemia, and somatostatinoma. Since then, a limited number of studies on this subject have been reported, and data on the long-term outcome of metastatic disease are not available on this rare syndrome. We comprehensively reviewed EPAS1-related PPGL and describe an unusual patient who has been living with an EPAS1-related metastatic PPGL for 47 years.
