Background: Cryptogenic cerebrovascular stroke can be defined as an ischemic stroke that lacks a clear cause, even after a thorough evaluation. It should be distinguished from the embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS), a subgroup that includes cardio-embolic sources. This study aims to assess left atrial function through two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) to determine its potential association with cryptogenic stroke and its predictive value for subclinical atrial fibrillation (AF).

Tetanus Cases in Mogadishu-Somalia: A Tragic Disease Despite the Existence of a Century-Old Safe and Efficient Tetanus Vaccine.

Introduction: Despite the efforts and support of the World Health Organization and other international organizations to reduce the incidence of the disease, tetanus is still an acute condition with serious consequences, including death. The purpose of this study was to assess the tetanus patients we have been monitoring over the past two years in Somalia, a country with a protracted civil conflict, extreme poverty, and restricted access to hospital, social security, and public health facilities.

Methods: This study includes tetanus patients who were admitted to the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Training and Research Hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia, Turkey between January 1, 2022, and November 1, 2023.

Total hip arthroplasty for post-firearm hip arthritis complicated by coloarticular fistula: A case report.

Hip firearm injuries are rare injuries that could lead to serious complications, such as posttraumatic hip arthritis and coloarticular fistula. We report a case of a 25-year-old male who sustained a pelvic injury caused by a single bullet which led to a bilateral acetabular fracture, concomitant with a colon injury treated on an emergency basis by a diverting colostomy; acetabular fractures were treated conservatively by traction.
