Background: Dementia is a common neurogenerative disease among older adults. Therefore, they are more prone to potentially inappropriate medication (PIM), which is medication that causes more harm rather than protecting the health of an individual. Hence, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) has recognized the risk of certain medication classes on this population and released PIM according to Beers criteria, which is a helpful guide for clinicians to ensure the safety of medication before it is prescribed.

Background: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MISC) is a phenomenon that appeared in children infected with or exposed to severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). The typical onset of MISC is 4-6 weeks following SARS-CoV-2 infection and is formulated to be due to an immune response.

Methods: Our study retrospectively analyzed data from a tertiary center in United Arab Emirates of MISC patients who were admitted to either general pediatric wards or pediatric intensive care (PICU) or who came exclusively for follow-up (post-PICU admission) from May 2020 to August 2021.

Woodhouse-Sakati syndrome (WSS) is a rare autosomal recessive multi-system genetic disease caused by loss of function mutations in the DCAF17 gene on chromosome 2q31.1. The disease is characterized by gradual neurologic degeneration and polyendocrinopathy, particularly noteworthy for hypogonadism, beginning in early adolescence.

Objectives: To investigate the distribution of muscle weakness in Myasthenia gravis (MG) and the therapeutic response in each category.

Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study included all MG patients presented to our clinic between 2010 and 2020. The demographic, clinical, serological, electrophysiological, radiological, and histopathological data of the patients were recorded.

Introduction And Importance: Neoplasms arising from vesical diverticula are rare clinical entities known as intradiverticular bladder tumors. The bladder diverticulum harboring these tumors can be congenital or acquired. Congenital diverticula are predominantly found in children and are extremely rare in adults.

Background: In recent years, several hundred autism spectrum disorder (ASD) implicated genes have been discovered impacting a wide range of molecular pathways. However, the molecular underpinning of ASD, particularly from the point of view of 'brain to behaviour' pathogenic mechanisms, remains largely unknown.

Methods: We undertook a study to investigate patterns of spatiotemporal and cell type expression of ASD-implicated genes by integrating large-scale brain single-cell transcriptomes (> million cells) and de novo loss-of-function (LOF) ASD variants (impacting 852 genes from 40,122 cases).

Background: Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is an inflammatory polyradiculoneuropathy characterized by rapidly evolving weakness and areflexia, reaching nadir within 4 weeks. Data on the characteristic of GBS in Saudi Arabia are limited. This study aimed to describe the clinical, electrophysiological, and laboratory characteristics and outcome of a multicenter cohort of patients with GBS.

This study determined the effect of growth media and culture concentration on the growth, proximate, and microelement composition of . The culture of was done using three media, namely Modified COMBO Medium (COMBO), Bold's Basal Medium (BBM), and Bristol, at two concentrations (50% and 100%). The results obtained show that the cell density (>3.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to cause global havoc posing uncertainty to educational institutions worldwide. Understanding the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in children is important because of the potential impact on clinical management and public health decisions.

Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted for pediatric COVID-19 studies using PubMed and Scopus.

Objectives: To evaluate the prevalence and the factors associated with recurrence of myasthenia gravis following thymectomy.

Methods: Six electronic databases which reported on recurrence of myasthenia gravis following thymectomy and/or its risk factors from 1985 to 2018 were searched. Summary prevalence and risk values obtained based on the random effect models were reported.

Extra CNS metastasis of glioblastoma multiforme is extremely rare. We report a case of a 53-year-old Caucasian male who, after undergoing surgical resection and nine months adjuvant therapy, had a recurrence of the cancer with an infiltration expanding outside the cranium to the left maxilla, mandible and parotid gland.

Background: Psychopathology and personality traits may influence the course of autoimmune disorders. With this prospective longitudinal cohort study, we aimed to assess personality, stress and depression in myasthenia patients who relapse and those who remain stable or improve (non-relapsers).

Method: We collected data from 155 consecutive adult patients with confirmed MG attending the Neuromuscular Clinic, Toronto General Hospital, between March 2017 and July 2018, for this study.

Fairness, through its many forms and definitions, has become an important issue facing the machine learning community. In this work, we consider how to incorporate group fairness constraints into kernel regression methods, applicable to Gaussian processes, support vector machines, neural network regression and decision tree regression. Further, we focus on examining the effect of incorporating these constraints in decision tree regression, with direct applications to random forests and boosted trees amongst other widespread popular inference techniques.

Background: Artemether-lumefantrine (AL) and dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DHA/PPQ) are the recommended first- and second-line treatments, respectively, for uncomplicated falciparum malaria in Somalia. The studies reported here were conducted to assess the efficacy of these artemisinin-based combinations and the mutations in Plasmodium falciparum K13-propeller (Pfk13) domain and amplification in Pfplasmepsin 2 (Pfpm2) gene in Somalia.

Methods: One-arm prospective studies were conducted to assess the clinical and parasitological responses to DHA/PPQ and AL at two sites in 2016 and 2017, respectively, using the standard WHO protocol.

Background: Several mechanical thrombectomy (MT) devices have been designed with the goal of improving the recanalization rates of major intracranial artery occlusions.

Objective: In this single-center experience, we analyzed the acute ischemic stroke (AIS) treatment with Primary MT; safety and efficacy and clinical results in our patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO).

Methods: During a five-year period (from September 2011 to July 2016), out of 996 patients who presented to our center with a diagnosis of AIS, 113 (11.
