Age-related glomerular histogenesis in inbred indigenous rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus): A morphological, morphometrical, and immunohistochemical study with emphasis on Lgr5-positive cells.

Although the regeneration of renal glomeruli and nephrons after injuries especially in adult mammals is not possible, understanding normal glomerular histogenesis is important. Here, we sought to study the morphometrical and histological development of the normal renal glomeruli of rabbits from birth until postnatal day 40. Moreover, we immunohistochemically evaluated the extent and rate of the Lgr5 expression in the immature renal stem/progenitor cells.
