Background: Fluorescein angiography (FA) has been a pivotal tool for studying the pathophysiology of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in vivo. We examined the course of ROP using FA to assess the predictive value of angiographic features.

Methods: This is an observational retrospective cohort study of eyes screened for ROP with a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope and FA.

Article Synopsis
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common rheumatic disease in children, with uveitis being the leading extra-articular issue that can cause vision problems.
  • JIA-associated uveitis (JIA-U) poses significant challenges for pediatricians and ophthalmologists due to its subtle onset and the risk of serious complications affecting vision.
  • Current treatments begin with topical glucocorticoids, followed by methotrexate and newer biological drugs that specifically target disease mechanisms, greatly improving outcomes for those who do not respond to traditional therapies.

The understanding of the pathogenetic role of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) has led to development of therapeutic strategies such as intravitreal anti-VEGF drugs. We reported drug efficacy and ROP recurrence rates, extrapolated from the reviewed studies.
