Neurons continue to be generated in the subventricular zone (SVZ) throughout postnatal development and adulthood in rodents. Whereas in adults, virtually all neuroblasts migrate tangentially to the olfactory bulb via the rostral migratory stream (RMS), in neonates, a substantial fraction migrate radially through the corpus callosum (CC) to the cortex. Mechanisms of radial cortical migration have remained unknown.

GABAergic interneurons of the mouse cortex are generated embryonically in the ventral telencephalon. Recent evidence, however, indicated that a subset of cortical cells expressing interneuronal markers originate in the neonatal subventricular zone. This has raised interest in the functional development and incorporation of these postnatally generated cells into cortical circuits.

Non-adequate decondensation of injected sperm nucleus is one the main problems of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in porcine. With the aim of improving pronuclear formation, the effects on activation and embryo development rates of 0.1% Triton X-100 (TX) sperm pre-treatment for membrane removal and/or 5 mM Caffeine (CAF) addition in oocyte manipulating and culture medium for 2 h after ICSI or artificial activation were studied.

Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) has been linked to overdose, criminal surreptitious administration, the need for emergency medical care, and fatalities worldwide. To begin to identify and understand the motivational factors that lead to the use of GHB, the present investigation utilized methods that have been successful in identifying potential expectancy targets and have been incorporated into prevention and intervention strategies successful in reducing high-risk alcohol use. In the present investigation, GHB expectancies were elicited from 926 voluntary participants aged 18-60 at a university in the southeastern United States to develop the GHB Expectancy Questionnaire (GHBEQ).

The clinical relevance of neuropsychological deficits in addicted individuals has fostered interest in treatment strategies aimed to effectively target executive and decision-making dysfunction. One of the best-validated interventions for executive dysfunction is Goal Management Training (GMT) (Robertson et al., 2005), an interactive program aimed at improving participants' organization and ability to achieve goals.

Mucormycosis is a serious condition, usually acute and often fatal, It presents in its most aggressive form in debilitated hosts, usually with diabetic ketoacidosis or immunosuppression. As otolaryngologists, we must diagnose it as early as possible, establish early treatment with amphotericin B and perform a surgical manoeuvre to obtain infection-free margins. It is rare and largely unknown, contributing to delayed diagnosis.

In a study of three non-wood pulps (rice straw, EFB, and Hesperaloe), the standard pyrolysis model for biomass based on hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin pseudo-components, was modified to include char volatilization. As a result, abnormally high values for lignin content have been avoided. On the other hand, the consideration of autocatalysis (Prout-Tompkins equation) for TGA data simulation under inert and oxidative atmospheres, allows obtaining a stable set of kinetic parameters that describe volatilization and char oxidation for different heating rates, including char ignition.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of dehydroleucodine (DhL), a new drug isolated from a medicinal herb used in Argentina, for activation of bovine oocyte. Several DhL concentrations and exposure times after ionomycin (Io) treatment were tested. The optimal DhL treatment, found for parthenogenetic development, was employed to produce bovine embryos by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT).
