Electronic and vibrational relaxation processes can be optimized and tuned by introducing alternative pathways that channel excess energy more efficiently. An ensemble of interacting molecular systems can help overcome the bottlenecks caused by large energy gaps between intermediate excited states involved in the relaxation process. By employing this strategy, catenanes composed of mechanically interlocked carbon nanostructures show great promise as new materials for achieving higher efficiencies in electronic devices.

The objective of our study was to identify hematological and hemostatic changes associated with severe COVID-19.
Methods: A total of 170 hospitalized patients with COVID19 were included in the study, defining their severity according to established criteria.
Background: Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an alphavirus spread by mosquitos that causes arthralgias and arthritis that may last for years. The objective of this study was to describe the arthritis progression and T cell immunology over a two-year period.
Methods: A cohort of 40 cases of serologically confirmed CHIKV from Magdalena and Atlántico, Colombia were followed in 2019 and again in 2021.
Background: The extravascular (EV) implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) includes features to address sensing and arrhythmia detection challenges presented by its substernal lead location.
Objectives: In this study, the authors sought to evaluate sensing and detection performance in 299 patients discharged with an EV-ICD in the global pivotal study.
Methods: We reviewed and adjudicated all induced ventricular fibrillation (VF) episodes and spontaneous device-stored episodes that satisfied rate and duration criteria in a programmed ventricular tachycardia (VT)/VF therapy zone.
Objective: To define the relationship between chronic chikungunya post-viral arthritis disease severity, cytokine response and T cell subsets in order to identify potential targets for therapy.
Methods: Participants with chikungunya arthritis were recruited from Colombia from 2019-2021. Arthritis disease severity was quantified using the Disease Activity Score-28 and an Arthritis-Flare Questionnaire adapted for chikungunya arthritis.
Background: Establishing reference intervals (RIs) in clinical laboratories is essential, as these can vary due to inter-individual variability as well as the analytical methods used. The purpose of this study was to determine RIs for markers and ratios biochemical in apparently healthy Chilean adults.
Methods: A sample of 1,143 data was selected from the Universidad Católica de Temuco, Clinical Laboratory database, La Araucanía Region, Chile, which were analysed by sex.
Photoinduced intramolecular energy transfers in multichromophoric molecules involve nonadiabatic vibronic channels that act as energy transfer funnels. They commonly take place through specific directions of motion dictated by the nonadiabatic coupling vectors. Objective: To make a proposal for formative evaluation for the development of professional competences on central venous catheterization performed by residents in a university institution.
Materials And Methods: Case study with alternative approach supported by grounded theory. Through 17 interviews with teachers, specialists, residents, administrative personnel, context and tensions were identified about educational terms and actors of the process.
Objective: Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) causes persistent arthritis, and our prior study showed that approximately one third of CHIKV arthritis patients had exacerbated arthritis associated with exercise. The underlying mechanism of exercise-associated chikungunya arthritis flare (EACAF) is unknown, and this analysis aimed to examine the regulatory T-cell immune response related to CHIKV arthritis flares.
Methods: In our study, 124 Colombian patients with a history of CHIKV infection four years prior were enrolled and 113 cases with serologically confirmed CHIKV IgG were used in this analysis.
Cycloparaphenylenes, being the smallest segments of carbon nanotubes, have emerged as prototypes of the simplest carbon nanohoops. Their unique structure-dynamics-optical properties relationships have motivated a wide variety of synthesis of new related nanohoop species. Studies of how chemical changes, introduced in these new materials, lead to systems with new structural, dynamics and optical properties, expand their functionalities for optoelectronics applications.

We describe the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) prevalence and associated symptoms, and review shelter infection prevention and control (IPC) policies.
Methods: PEH and staff were tested for SARS-CoV-2 by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) during 7 April-6 May 2020.
Photoinduced electronic energy transfer in conjugated donor-acceptor systems is naturally accompanied by intramolecular vibrational energy redistributions accepting an excess of electronic energy. Herein, we simulate these processes in a covalently linked donor-acceptor molecular dyad system by using nonadiabatic excited state molecular dynamics simulations. This increase occurs before the first ectopic beat (EB), specifically in subjects who demonstrate subsequent repetitive torsades de pointes arrhythmias (TdP).
Objective: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that STV is feasible to monitor arrhythmic risk through use of the intracardiac electrogram (EGM) derived from the right ventricular (RV) lead from pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
Ultrafast intramolecular electronic energy transfer in a conjugated donor-acceptor system is simulated using nonadiabatic excited-state molecular dynamics. After initial site-selective photoexcitation of the donor, transition density localization is monitored throughout the S → S internal conversion process, revealing an efficient unidirectional donor → acceptor energy-transfer process. Detailed analysis of the excited-state trajectories uncovers several salient features of the energy-transfer dynamics.
