Split hand/foot malformation is a heterogeneous congenital disorder mainly presented with a median cleft of hands or/and feet. It can be associated with long bone aplasia, a syndrome also known as split hand/foot syndrome with long bone deficiency (SHFLD), which is a very rare condition. We report a very rare case of a male fetus with SHFLD syndrome combined with fibular aplasia, tibial campomelia, and oligosyndactyly (FATCO) syndrome.

Deciphering osteoarthritis genetics across 826,690 individuals from 9 populations.

Osteoarthritis affects over 300 million people worldwide. Here, we conduct a genome-wide association study meta-analysis across 826,690 individuals (177,517 with osteoarthritis) and identify 100 independently associated risk variants across 11 osteoarthritis phenotypes, 52 of which have not been associated with the disease before. We report thumb and spine osteoarthritis risk variants and identify differences in genetic effects between weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing joints.

Posterior subdeltoid and external rotators preserving approach for reduction and fixation of displaced extra-articular fractures of the scapula.

Background: Operative management of scapular body fractures, when indicated, typically involves extensive exposure through a posterior approach. We present our experience with a deltoid preserving approach that allows excellent exposure of the fracture lines for reduction and fixation while minimizing muscle detachment and overall tissue trauma.

Technique: Exposure of the scapula was obtained through a posterior incision.

This study aimed to evaluate and compare the widely used and reliable method of indexed inferior vena cava diameter (IVCDi) with established and more recently available techniques (bioelectrical impedance analysis [BIA], continuous blood volume monitoring [Crit-line], and the B-line score [BLS] with lung ultrasonography) for estimating the hydration status of patients on HD.

Co-expression of galectin-3 and CRIP-1 in endometrial cancer: prognostic value and patient survival.

Congenital disorder of true cyclopia with polydactylia: case report and review of the literature.

Cyclopia is a rare type of holoprosencephaly and a congenital disorder characterized by the failure of the embryonic forebrain to properly divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities (the embryonic forebrain is normally responsible for inducing the development of the orbits). As a result a birth defect in which there is only one eye is developed. This eye is centrally placed in the area normally occupied by the root of the nose.

This report details a rare case of diffuse bilateral scrotal neurofibroma complicated by hindlimb paralysis in a rabbit. The animal was evaluated for unusual bilateral scrotal enlargement. After physical examination, ultrasound scan, radiography, computed tomography and laparoscopy, surgical exploration of the scrotum was undertaken.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the co-expression of survivin, c-erbB2, and COX-2 in endometrial cancer tissues and evaluate its prognostic significance in endometrial cancer

Methods: Tumor tissue biopsies from 110 patients with primary untreated endometrial carcinomas were studied by immunohistochemistry. Statistical analysis evaluated correlation of antigen expression with tumor stage, grade, myometrial invasion, and histologic type. Association with disease outcome was also investigated

Results: The results showed that expression of the three antigens was independently associated with histological grade, disease stage, and myometrial invasion.

Aim: Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has revolutionized lymph node staging in patients with malignant melanoma. Intraoperative evaluation is a new addition to the SLN procedure that allows for a one-step regional lymph node dissection to be performed when the SLN biopsy findings are positive. The discriminatory immunostaining pattern with the S-100 and HMB45 monoclonal antibodies allows intraoperative immunocytochemical evaluation of imprint smears of SLNs for melanoma metastases.
